What kind of tires are you FI folks using and for what purpose?

I've been looking to wrap my F14s (19x10) in something I can use on the street during dry and maybe (If I'm unlucky) rain.

I've been looking into the S-04s, PSS and G Force Rivals.

I really need DRs in the rear but I value corning capability.

Is there a tire that can hook 600+ and still offer great corning ability?

Longevity isn't my top concern. If the tires need to be replaced...I'll replace them

I am on Toyo T1R and they are night and day difference from the POS P Zeros.

They are hooking up well for me and handle great!

I use the S04 tires in a 285 on all 4. They have great lateral grip and good traction for acceleration. Mine hooks up well in 2nd gear unless it's below 60 degrees at 470 wtq and 600 whp.

PSS on 19" F14's, 295 and 275. Love them so far.

Good suggestions so far.

I'm on MT Street Comps currently but I only have traction if I do a solid burnout and only during parts of 2nd gear.

I would love to be able to launch or at least pull in 1st (even though it only lasts a split second)

Also, do any of you feel a "wiggle" from the rear end during hard acceleration? Its like a floating wiggle feeling during the pull...hard to describe but its like the rear of the car is moving left to right a 1/8.

What are you folks running for alignment?

Another vote for PSS. Best all-around tire and still driveable in sub 50 degree weather.

Glad you posted this question because I am about to go FI and have been wondering the same thing. I've been told to use the Nitto NT05, but I too am concerned about cornering ability. Can anyone chime in on this?

Also, this floating wiggle you speak of, I thought I was crazy but I feel this ALL the time under hard acceleration. It feels just like you describe it, as if the rear end is sort of moving and floating and at times makes me feel like the car will just spin out, but of course it doesn't. I don't know if you ever felt this before the blower like I do. I would say it almost feels like hydroplaning.

I have a TVS setup making well over 600, and have had a set of Nitto NT05R 315/35-20's and a set of MT ET Street II's 305/35-20's. Nitto's are good on the street, not great at the strip, no problems cornering/spirited driving. MT's are far superior at the strip and fine on the street. Both tires are dangerous in the rain, but any tire that is safe in the rain isn't going to hook on a FI setup.

MTs would be my goto tire but will they fit a 10 inch wheel?

830whp, and I use Nitto NT555 275/35/20 in the front and Nitto NT555R Drag Radials in 305/35/20 in the rear. Traction is still not there all the time.

I would run DRs but sizing is an issue. I'm going to be running 19x10s squared. I've got a set of MT Street Comps which seem to do well when warm but are very "greasy" when cold. It is my understanding that PSS dont actually have a grip level that is comparable to some track tires such as the AD08, RS3, NT05 and Star Spec but do offer great performance in versatility. I have heard great things about there ability to perform under less than ideal conditions.

Has anyone tried a set of "track" biased tires other than DRs?

I've worn a set of NT05s on my 2014 evo and they do great with proper heat cycling but can overheat easily. I've tried RS3s on my M3 and they certainly bite although I wasnt applying nearly the power needed to evaluate there straight line performance. Aside from that, they also react at the limit of lateral grip like an "On/Off" switch. Grip until they dont without a linear transition.

the NT05R is the best drag radial that still gives you semblance of handling. It will compromise traction though. It's all about give and take.

They make a 305/35/19 NT05R, it will bulge a little on a 19x10.

Do the Nittos run narrow? 305 section is 2 sizes out of the normal range of a 10 inch isnt it? 295s being the max, 285s being ideal?
