Hi Everyone,

I have pretty much decided on a Whipple or a Kenne Bell Supercharger for my 2018GT PP1. This will ONLY be a fun street bruiser with very few track runs as it is a convertible. What tires are you all running? My STOCK car already pushes the traction limit in some gears under full acceleration and I am running 275 Michelin Pilot Sport 4s's in the rear. What are you SC cars running to be able to use most of this power? My car is a daily commuter/ cruiser (although my commute is only 5 miles or so). I know I can fit 305's on the rear with a wider wheel...

I’ve been trying to figure out the same. The PS4S are a joke with a Whipple. I can’t hook gears 1-4. If it’s 90+ deg outside, 4th might hook. But like you, mine is a daily driver. I put about 12,000 miles per year on mine so a 10k mile tire with no rain ability is a no-go for me.

I believe a 305/35-19 will fit the pp1 wheel ok.

Unfortunately, they don’t make a nitto 555r in a 19”. However, in a 305/35-19, they make the cup2, which is what comes in the gt500 track pack, gt350r, and gt pp2. This is probably the lead option for me as of now.

Nitto 555R is perfect for your need but not available in 19’s. You would have to go to 18’s or 20’s. Mickey Thompson ET Street SS I believe comes in 19 but they are horrible in the rain and at higher speeds the rear gets a bit of a swaying motion but they do hook up.

I have a whipple 2019 gt, and I've had good luck with Nitto nto5r's. I run a 275/35/19 nt05 in front and a 305/35/19 nt05r in the rear. I get about 8k-10k miles on the rear tires. Summer traction is great. Wet traction is not so great, stay 5 to 10 mph under the speed limit and don't make sharp maneuvers.

Nitto 555R DR - 305/35/20. Holds fine for the price and still sipes rain water away when driven with some common sense as would be the case on any tire with an FI setup in the rain. The Toyos may provide a bit better dry traction but they are a large jump in price.

I'm running some 305 coopers on the back. They stick ok so far, but I haven't pushed it real hard yet since I just finished my install recently. Still getting used to it.

One thing that a lot of people forget to mention is the importance of an alignment. The flatter you can get the rear tires, the more rubber youre putting in contact with the road. If you're lowered at all, your camber is working against you. There is a +/-0.5 deg adjustment on the rear that a lot of people don't know about, but if you need more than that, you can get something like this:

https://www.lethalperformance.com/bmr-suspension-uca762-adjustable-camber-links-2015-mustang.html

If you have 305 tires and 4 degrees of camber, you might as well be running 135s.

I am trying to figure out the same on tires.
I have a 17 RS3 VMP tuned with their 730 hp kit and the stock Cooper RS3-S in 275/35/20 are just not going to do the job. Actually even half throttle will spin and get the nice fish tail going.
Roush only puts 9.5" wide rims on these cars and so limits what you can do.
295's are probably as big as I can go safely. Thought about going with the Nitto NT555-G2's but not sure at this time.
For every tire, somebody will have a positive and a negative comment, so you just don't know.

Was just about to type R888R but you beat me to it, seems that as long as you don’t have to drive everyday for many miles that this is a really good choice

I went with a 325 4s on a 11.5 wheel thinking the wider tire would help. Straight line traction is terrible. Lateral grip is good, and handles well in the rain. Good luck finding a tire that will hook on a 9.5 wheel. I've heard good things about the triple 8s, but if you get 10k mi out of them your be lucky.

Any idea how the cup2 compares to r888r?

Cup 2 traction is AA with a 180 treadwear
R888r traction is AA with a 100 treadwear

I don't have real world experience. But from what I have read the 888s are the better all around tire.
