87 on the tune?93 tuned right now but for a couple weeks I was running 87 just fine
Both the Ecoboost and 5.0 are rated for horsepower using 93 octane fuel. When you use 87, you reduce horsepower output and fuel economy. The manual says 87 octane unless you are pulling a boat. Whey 93?
The 310 hp rating is with 93, it is rated about 270 hp on 87. So yeah I would think there would be a difference but I've been using 93 since first fill up.Here in Florida we have 87, 91 and 93 and I have been using 87 from day one.
Is there any truth that with 93 octane my car will feel or actually be faster?
I have a ecoboost with no mechanical power mods as of yet.

At the risk of talking about things I know little about - admittedly a long and growing list - I was merely pointing out that the manual says 87. I don't doubt it is setting an octane floor rather than ceiling and all of the hp and torque numbers in the official Mustang brochure were in fact tested with 93 octane (interestingly not the V6).Both the Ecoboost and 5.0 are rated for horsepower using 93 octane fuel. When you use 87, you reduce horsepower output and fuel economy.
On the 5.0, the PCM will pull timing to prevent detonation. On the Ecoboost, the PCM will pull both timing and boost to prevent detonation. Both of things things reduce horsepower significantly and lower engine efficiency, which means lower fuel economy.
Why would you purchase an expensive high performance car and then use crap fuel? It just makes no sense.
