Hello, new car with about 1600 miles and having the following noise when idle or accelerating up to 2k rpms.

What is this and is it normal? Bbq tick even during acceleration? Timing chain? Getting lost with all discussions here around engine noise.

Sounds like the 2k rattle. Some cars it goes away once the oil is fully warmed up. Others use ceratec to get rid of the noise.

If that is the BBQ tick, it's interesting that you have got it on a euro.

We don't seem to be plagued with it as much on the euro and the spec of the european oil is one of the theories - something to do with the additives.

Has it had an oil change recently and if so, what oil went in it ?

Ceratec seems to be the common solution - maybe that just puts back some of the additives that's missing when compared to the original fill ?

I thought I heard a turbo or centri?

That is not a tic. Sounds like something bad. Rod, main, wrist pin ect.

Seems to be the BBQ tick... aren't the oil specs the same? Now I have the noise since day 1 and I guess oil was filled in the US at factory... will have my first oil change next week, maybe it will disappear :)

Do you have the tick?

You have a 2020 car and you haven't changed the oil yet?

That is not the BBQ tick. That's the 2k rattle. Different noise. The BBQ tick is inconsistent and is more like a click not a hard rattle.

That's the 10R80 you hear. There is an internal fluid pump that runs off the torque converter. It has straight cut gears and makes that whine sound. My 2023 F150 sounds even louder than that. Seems to be more prominent in newer version of the 10R80.

OP - Ford will tell you that noise is a normal characteristic of the engine.

2016 here, does the same thing. No rhyme or reason to when it happens. I stopped caring a long time ago.

Could be detonation (aka pinging) f you're using regular gas, try premium and see if it goes away?
