What is this connector?

I just picked up my 2020 GT350 last week and have been poking around under the hood. There is one thing I have been able to figure out…..
What is this thing connected to the hood vent grill. It seems just to be some kind of cable, or in other words; it doesn’t look electrical, but I just can’t figure out what it is….

I wondered about that too on my GT350. I thought it's simply a strap to keep the hood vent in place, and prevent it from flying off during high speed driving.

This is a tether/safety strap for the hood vent grill. It keeps it from flying away if it becomes detached.

The Trufiber Carbon Fiber one does not use the tether. You have to fabricate something if you wish to use in the aftermarket.

The thought that it’s a safety strap does not seem to be correct. The cable is bolted through the vent to the tab on the underside of the hood while the grille is above it. Yes the two are bolted together but whatever the grill may do it won’t tear that metal tab in the hood away with it.

It's not too bad, it's through the bottom grill. Seems solid, but bolted through on the backside. I DO NOT like that TX is a front license plate state.

That's a great observation. If it does break free, it will break at the tab where it's connected to the hood - causing the tether to be useless. The mystery continues.......

I've heard that it is a ground to discharge any static electricity from the underhood insulator.
