I have some questions.Well...there is no accounting for poor, lazy and incompetent or perhaps untruthful, car salesmen. I was quoted a $40K price OUT-THE-DOOR for the car I ordered on Saturday. Today, (the stealership was closed yesterday for Memorial Day...I suppose one of the few dealerships that elected to close for the holiday), the Finance Manager emailed me the build sheet and the final Out-The-Door price was (is) $41,226.17, not including any applicable rebates I qualify for at time of the car's delivery (500 Ford Cash and 750 Military). Needless to say, I was agitated; I called and asked to speak to my salesman...HE WAS GONE FOR THE DAY! So, I spoke with the Finance Manager; he told me the "original agreement" was to sell me the car at invoice, plus all applicable taxes and fees, minus applicable rebates at the time of the car's delivery. When I "pressed" him and asked why the salesman, who drew up the original numbers and sales agreement (which was approved by another finance manager at the dealership on Saturday) quoted me an Out-The-Door price of $40K, he replied, "well, he used the incorrect Georgia Sales tax percentage and he didn't include the advertisement and fuel fees. Now, I was really agitated. So now, I don't know whether to chalk this up to an incompetent and lazy salesman or if the stealership is trying to "pull a fast one" on me. The, as it stands now, Out-The-Door price with all of my rebates (presuming, of course, they are still available at the car's delivery) is: $39,976.17...which, I don't think is too bad of a deal. I informed the finance manager, who sent me the email and whom I subsequently called, I wouldn't pay for the advertisement and fuel fees either...it remains to be seen how this will turn out. Hopefully at worst, maybe I can "split" the $580.00 advertising fee and come out with an OTD price of $39,686.17. I am interested in hearing opinions; should I just walk away and renegotiate with another stealership for the same or better price or should I just chalk this incident up to an incompetent/lazy salesman?
Check with Hennessy Ford and Five Star Stone Mountain.GT Pony and 351MachOne,
I ordered the car from a dealership in Augusta (I will be there in 2 months, after I finish school in Florida); the MSRP was $40,695.00. If I could find a dealership in Atlanta to offer me a significant discount off the MSRP ($5300.00 is CRAZY!), I would take it! As it stands now, the final Out-The-Door Price is: $39,888.67. Initially, I asked for an Out-The-Door price of $38,500. I am scouring the net, as I type this, for dealerships in the greater Atlanta area to contact. If I can find one already built and similarly equipped, I will purchase it. If the dealers are indeed discounting this heavily, perhaps a price of $38,000 to $38,500 Out-The-Door isn't impossible. If you know of a dealership in the greater Atlanta area offering significant MSRP discounts, please let me know! As it stands now though, $39,888.67, minus the rebates ($500 Ford Cash and 750 Military rebates {hopefully, both are still available}), isn't a terrible OTD price but knocking another 2K off from the final OTD price would be AMAZING!!
You are being taken for a ride my friend. There is no way you should pay for advertising or a trumped up fuel charge. These are pure profit for the dealership and a way to get you to think you are getting invoice while getting you to pay more. I would go back to the dealership and tell them you are paying the agreed upon 40K out the door and then take the rebates (which are factory to you, not them) off of that amount.Well...there is no accounting for poor, lazy and incompetent or perhaps untruthful, car salesmen. If I could play devils advocate for a minute. Did you get a copy of the DORA with invoice and MSRP? What does it say on your purchase and sale? Invoice price includes the fuel and Ad assessment. I don't understand the out-the-door price with no signed P&S. How much of a deposit did you leave for your ordered car? Did you leave a deposit? No deposit, no contract, no obligation to you, not your car. Because a salesman "quoted" you a price isn't sufficient evidence that both parties signed a contract at an agreed upon price.Well...there is no accounting for poor, lazy and incompetent or perhaps untruthful, car salesmen. That sucks, I figured the dealer would have come around. The fact that you gave them a deposit is the reason why I'm in a '15 and not a '14. I had 2K on a '14 in NJ and two weeks before I was to pick it up "they couldn't finance me" (They sold it to someone else for more) So I lost a Summer and ended up in a much better car for almost the same money and 1.49%. Things happen for a reason.Tim,
Long story short...I canceled my order on Saturday. The dealer, in my opinion, was uncooperative and poor in job performance and communication. The dealership personnel (my salesman and two finance managers), despite multiple requests via phone, text and email, didn't send the DORA and an official copy of a P&S to sign, after I clunked down 1K as a deposit to guarantee the order. I have purchased a few cars in my lifetime (early 40's guy here) and I have never experienced a dealership with such an attitude. They behaved as if they were doing me a favor in communicating with me regarding the purchase and as if it were a real imposition to produce a DORA and a P&S. I am not a big fan of the hood mounted blinker's on the 2016 GT'S but I am going to talk with a dealer here in Florida tomorrow (if I order it here, I will take a one way flight to pick it up and drive it to Georgia, when it is ready...about a 500 mile drive) with regards to configuring and ordering a 2016.
