Had a ride with friends yesterday. Stopped at the Norris Dam overlook and snapped a couple of pics. Beautiful mid 80's day in East TN yesterday..

Thank you appreciate it!
I have same wheel. It's a lot thicker in person. I wish it was a smidge smaller but I wanted

no carbon fiber
Heated option
No color stripe
black

Can't beat the price! works for me!!

Damn you guys. Now I want one.

Are you happy that you made the switch?

Thoughts about possibly going back to stock?

How was the install?

I’m happy.

I wanted:

  1. All leather wheel
  2. No colored stitching
  3. No carbon fiber
  4. Maintained heat
  5. Better grip than stock
The only downside is that while I prefer a thicker steering wheel I think it’s almost too thick. I wear a size Large glove 90% of the time, but sometimes will wear a tight medium when I want a really tight fit. I think it’s fine without gloves, but might be too thick with racing gloves. Only other issue I had, but worked around is the heated steering wiring comes out at 9 instead of 6 position. This makes it a pain to route (I pinched the wiring accidently on install but it works). The amazing thing to me is the trim fits PERFECTLY with no gaps or excess leather to trim like I had read about on others. The finish much grippier than stock (I hate how slick the OEM wheel is).

The install is easy, just download the Ford Performance instructions for the GT350 steering wheel install. My bolt was a regular hex head, but I’ve seen others claim they had a torx plus bolt. I used Loctite 243 and torqued to 30, the spec is 35, but it didn’t feel right.

I’d have a hard time going back to stock. If not this wheel then I would buy a GT350 or GT500 wheel.

Speaking of which I thought I saw a new source for custom steering wheel badges like badge king. Does anyone have a source? I want a black one with white lettering and Ford Performance to basically make it look like the Ford Performance Sparco wheel.

I actually like it. Where did you get the red Mach 1 emblem. I’ve been trying to find one just like that and was having trouble even finding anything remotely close.
Red Mach 1 was just a simple plastidip spray. Has stayed on pretty well.

I paid somebody to do install but it was done quickly and with no issues. I share the same sentiment it's a bit too thick. Might be a dealbreaker might not be. I'm gonna keep it as I've gotten used to it.

Hmm OK good perspective, thanks to you both. I have pretty big hands and will probably end up trying one out.

I found a source and have contacted them for a custom design to help it resemble a Ford Perfomance wheel but with an airbag of course. 🤣

I went back to the dyno, to see how much HP my exhaust modifications (to make it quieter) cost me. The answer was, between 30 and 40. The original setup had my wastegates dump to atmosphere, which was like open headers as soon as boost built, as well as a 3" straight through to BMRP mufflers. I added two 18" resonators in the H-pipe. I loved how the car sounded before from the inside cabin, but it was LOUD on the outside when under boost. Whenever I went cruising with friends, they had to roll up their windows if I was going to be beside them. :cwl:

I'm getting ready to move to a mountain neighborhood where there won't be a way to stay out of boost driving home, and there is a restaurant just outside the gate with outdoor seating that overlooks the road up. I don't need to have a dozen Karen's call the cops on me every time I come home. The sound now is deep and mean, and the active exhaust is a lot more effective at actually changing the volume.

My tune is pretty conservative, maxing at 10psi. Could I make more power with a more aggressive or E-85 tune? Sure. Could I have left the resonators off, or used shorter ones? Of course. I also made it easy to reverse the resonators if I want to. But this is a street car, with only a boost-a-pump and GT500 injectors. I went to the drag strip, road course, and a roll race last season without changing anything in my setup. The car is an all around riot, not a one-trick pony. I'm also still running the stock clutch! I think most of this is owed to always taking off on my low boost setting, and only hitting the higher boost levels after 2nd gear.

Low boost is wastegate only, now about 4.3psi, mid is 7psi, and high is 10psi. I had to adjust my boost controller settings after the changes, as there is now a slight restriction on the other side of the wastegate. For perspective, gate pressure was at 5psi when they were open to atmosphere.

Kudos to @HELLION TURBO and Palm Beach Dyno (remote tuning) for giving me so many smiles per mile. I would 100% do this again, and for an all around street car, think the TT setup is the way to go.

I've seen this car closeup and it looks like as OEM and impressive as you'll ever see. The only concern I have with any under-car mounting is, if they hang low, our Michigan roads are so bad, I'd worry about the oil return system or the turbocharger itself contacting the road without some type of skid plate protection?
