Family run businesses often have a better reputation. Let's hope they live up to that on Tuesday.

Worth telling them of this forum though.......it's a great way to let the Mustang community know about a dealer worth dealing with!
Will do they said a guy brings his religiously to them, I said I know he told me about you guys. :)

I shall mention wheel bearing and servo to them on Tuesday.

Service manager said he'd want to change pair of disc, pair of pads and new caliper is what would make him happy.

PS4S scheduled for delivery Monday too, finally have some grip on the back.

The part worn MPSS I got on the back for £25 worse than the Pzero, rubber gone too hard, does means I have being sliding and wheel spin everywhere which is maybe whats caused the issue as I suspect grit/dirt as got on the caliper sliding pins at a guess, problem using as a daily on salted/gritted roads, but end of the day Ford sell it as a road car, so it should be fine.

The Mustang's rear single acting piston calipers are poor quality IMO. I'm thinking of going down the GT350 route with proper calipers.

Hi there

OK so after the surprise of a Ford dealership contacting me at 11pm last night on Facebook (incredible service), I decided to pay their service manager a visit this morning.

The garage in question is Burns Ford Congleton, a family run business since 1918:-

Guess that is the difference between a big franchise of dealerships who are just 9-5 jobbers compared to a family owned business that is approaching 100 years old. :)
Good Luck for Tuesday, seems there are a few decent Ford garages about, to get in touch at 11pm on a Friday night is pretty impressive stuff. Even more so, you not being a regular customer of theirs.
This maybe a stupid question, but if they hook up the ECU will it not tell them exactly what happened? I mean these cars even have a Black Box in them.

Stuff like that won't register on a computer.

That would probably explain why mine stick on/grind occasionally, and the one I test drove was even worse after some exuberant driving:eyebulge:

Just read all this (because work is less entertaining than this!)

You really have the shoddiest luck with meets don't you!

NC500 - Oil leak
Northampton - Oil leak
Wolves - Rear caliper trying to become the sun.

Hopefully everything is gotten together quicktime for the meet, would be a royal pig with all the effort you've gone to for you not to be there!

Sounds like the dealers doing a class job, lets hope it sticks (The dealer, not your brakes), and they fix it all up for you (before the meet, if I see your bimmer there :paddle: )

I will be there! The wasp might just have to make an appearance.

Though I think all will be well, because if Ford decide to be an ass or take forever 666machas very kindly offered me his rear brake setup, so I shall just change out the calipers, brakes and pads myself in time for the event. :)

What a morning!

9:30am - Call from Burns Congleton, saying they have enquired with Ford for parts availability, result nothing in stock. They said still bring the car, we shall do the service, check wheel bearing etc and make the official claim.

9:45am - Email from original dealership from service manager requesting a time to call.

10:00am - Call from Ford HQ, ask for a convenient time to call.

WOW, getting the impression they want to resolve this one quick. Shall take it to Burns tomorrow as planned and shall call Ford HQ to explain this. :)

Gibbo205 you can park and hold the spaces for the real cars, then, as you said, it's Mustang only, so you can tootle off to the peasant parking with the fiesta's and such - maybe they can teach your beamer how to indicate

(Nah I have no doubts, with the above post, and mac, and yourself, you'll either have new ones or macs on without fail before the meet!)

Is the handbrake on the Mustang a part of the caliper or is it the "shoes inside the disc hub" design?
