Okay I did it all! Painted it all satin black. Some are overlays that were carbon fiber, some were not ( like the inner door handles). Since my car is totally murdered this new black interior suits it well! New RTR shift knob too!

Now THAT looks nice. I like this a lot better than the CF stuff. This looks like it could have been stock.

Not a fan of Carbon fiber on any car. I'd leave it stock IMO .

Putting chrome on the inside of a vehicle should be a criminal offense.

Seems to be the best post for this question... MUST kill the shifter boot and steering wheel trim "chrome?". For those who have painted... hows it holding up? OR, has someone actually made black pieces to replace with?

Figured I would update thread for fellow dechromers:

Oem dark horse black handles and door pulls transfer over

Oem ford transit door locks transfer over

eBay covers I flat blacked on rest of car holding strong after a year.

Oddly I'm thinking of trying to find a wood shift knob to add a little bit of pop in other direction or do a black one for some texture balance.

More mods to the list!!

Hate the chrome too. I painted the easily removable pieces body color; in my case, carbonized grey.

I know the Dark Horse door handles and pulls are a direct fit, but has anybody successfully chemically stripped the chrome from them for painting? Never had great success painting over chrome even with light sanding and these have a lot of small crevices that would be difficult to sand in the first place.

I've tried soaking them in Super Clean degreaser and brake fluid for days and the chrome plating is impossible to chemically strip.

The dark horse handles I did honestly feel like a flat black plastic not a black chrome or a higher end material. I know if might be cheaper to strip oem ones but considering the time and investment it might be worth it to do dark horse handles plus paint.

That might be the route I go if I cannot strip the chrome from the S550 pulls and handles. The cost is painful though just to delete the chrome ~$400 to do both doors. Only reason I was looking to paint them black was because I bought some trim panels from a GT350 with the alcantara inserts so had an extra set of handles and pulls. Actually think you were the one who posted the DH part numbers on another thread. Not sure why the RH pull is so much more expensive than the LH.

RH Door Pull: PR3Z-6322634-BA (~$160)
LH Door Pull: PR3Z-6322635-BA (~$60)

RH Door Handle: PR3Z-6322600-CA (~$90)
LH Door Handle: PR3Z-6322601-DB (~$90)

I believe I have posted them and at the time it was about 250 dollars all in 2 years ago.
