Weird Ford mailing - what is this?

I've had my car only a few months now, so I don't get it, if they wanted to check some system why didn't they just do it at the factory. Why do they want to pay me $300 to check it now?

I got the same letter for my Focus RS - I was paid $500 for that one for < 15 minutes. I'll do it with the Mustang as well.

Ya I don't know why Ford forgot my first name. They used it in the "Dennis, welcome to your new Mustang" thing they mailed me earlier, inviting me to download their FordPass app. So, this is kinda weird. And no one so far seems to know what this is about.

I'm paranoid like this as well. I figure any tracking devices not required by the government would probably have to be disclosed by the manufacturer if installed at the factory.

Why is Ford supposedly reimbursing this company for hundreds of dollars a car, when it just had the car. When it won't spend fifty cents to give us a locking fuel door.

All they do is plug in a device to your OBD. Check the emissions info, and leave.

It's about checking emissions info (for CARB reasons) - FYI, my Focus was tuned for 93 when they did it and no problems popped up and Ford never followed up with me.
