I'm torn in deciding what I want. heres my delema i want either the best performing gt. which means getting pp recaro base gt for weight savings then ditching the rims for lightweight units that look better. reson being is I figure withought all the extras and cloth instead of leather it has got to be considerably lighter rite? how much lighter do you think ..then strip out all non essentials for more weight savings. .. or would I feel better with the preimium fully loaded then adding power to make up for it with exhaust intake yada yada down the road? what are your opinions? which would you rather have

I'm more than confident that the weight difference, however much it might be, will be indiscernible unless you ran back-to-back between the two. Just go for the premium model if it's within your budget and fits your preferences outside of the weight issue. I can't imagine it to be more than 100lbs.

Until the cars are released and weighed hard to know. The 2014 GT published (estimated) curb weight was 3618. My almost purchased 2014 300A GT with Track Pack and Recaros ship weight was only 3520. This could be a full tank of fuel etc. but my '15 is a strip-o 300A with just PP and Recaro's again. Honestly I could care less about the minimal weight gain on a better balanced/stiffer chassis.

I think Ford can make the car lighter with extra aluminum contents but that will affect the bottom line. All these supposed "leaks" were meant to get a feel of the customers responses.

Customer response to what..?
Do you think between now and Sept that ford will be deciding something "final" for the car..?

The marketing department always try to do that, but whether it will translate into any meaningful to the engineering department I can't say.

This.

Every component on the car goes through multiple rounds of validation testing and development before seeing production, and everything going into production on this car would have had to have its final sign off already complete by this time to meet production timing. There aren't any hardware changes between now and Job1 that will be made, save for the possibility of deleting an option or something. Its pretty much set in stone at this point. Any further changes will likely be held till Job2.

We are getting what we get! They are MAKING production parts now to be ready for August 11.

To the OP, define "best performing". What are you looking for specifically?

I guess the basics of what I mean is power to weight ratio and performance driving dynamics. For the road first and road course track also. That is why I would strip out things I dont deem nesccicary (weight reduction) I also plan on making carbon fiber / composite bits and pieces for the car depends on how it feels but be very diligent about where the weight is being removed.

How much %driving will you do on the street vs. the track?

From a purely financial point-of-view, it would seem to be a waste of money to purchase premium trim level with heated and cooled seats, only to strip them out in the name of weight savings.

There already is a weight savings with aluminum front fenders, hood, and decklid. What carbon fiber parts are you considering?

If the goal is all out performance, then the obvious solution is to BOTH reduce weight and add power.

If the goal is a balance of comfort/gadgets and performance, then a nicely optioned GT I'm sure will still be great, but sacrifice some performance potential.

It's always a trade off. OP simply needs to decide what his priorities are...

The Premium comes standard with a 9 Speaker/Amp system vs. the GT's 6 Speaker/No Amp. Not sure home much weight that is and if that 3704 is Premium weight or not. I believe Ford could consider a premium pack popular so, weight is added.

The S197 took on maybe 50lbs from base to premium, not sure what the system changes previously were. You can now get the Performance Pack on a Base GT w/Recaro's. Recaro's will drop a lot of weight from the standard seats. The old Trac Pack Brembo's added weight as well. A trick; the spare tire was removed to keep weight down. I have no idea how any of this will apply to the 3704. The old weight appeared to be a Premium Brembo GT with Recaro's, they reported a 3618lbs. We observed a 3580lbs-3650lbs spread.

If the 3704lbs is a Premium GT with standard equipment, you can maybe lose 40-60lbs in the GT. The Recaro's could take another 70-80lbs off that 3704lbs too. Remember, this is NON-PP, that package could add 75lbs back in... The old '11-'14 Brenbo pack is pretty much standard on the '15 GT, that weight was removed elsewhere initially.

Edit: Unless the 3704 includes the Performance Package and Premium like the '14's weights were. That is also a possibility, seeing the manual EB and GT's weights so close to the automatics.
