So it looks like Maps NA 2 20 is ready to go. And, at least for me, it's still free. Now starts the fun.

Make sure to start with a clean, properly formatted, drive with at least 32gb of space.

You're welcome!

Just remember all, map updates can be tricky. Be sure to download and properly place the license file. This alone caused multiple issues with Maps 1.19. Also the upload to your car takes time, upwards of an hour & a half with multiple reboots. Do not remove the drive until you know the upload is complete. See complete instructions below.

Here is the final file structure. Note 4U5T-14G424-CD.TAR.GZ is the license file.

Here are the install instructions. They say 60 minutes. We'll see.

This is where Ford needs to catch up with GM. I get in my Acadia some random mornings and BAM! the radio says you have an update would you like to update now? Tap yes, and done. It's crazy that they still have owners with modems in vehicle still running sneakernet to obtain updates. How 2001 is that.

Yes, we absolutely could. That said, it is an observation based on the user experience from 2015-2017 update experience. It is not meant to be a bitch session. It is meant to be constructive feedback since the process obviously still has not changed. To be genuinely effective, critical comparison to the competition may be necessary in effort to generate a better user experience for everyone and allow us to have a more user friendly product in the end.
No one should be biting their nails hoping not to brick their system while doing an update.

I never use Fords Maps, but I love free stuff XD

So i just got an email saying to disregard the previous download and to re-download the maps as there was an update made to them. Anyone else get this?

OK,l so did the upload this morning. At the start, no issues. First reboot about 35 minutes in, second reboot around 1 hour and 5 minutes. Then the wait. Usually the last segment goes pretty quick.

After 1 1/2 hours I decided to check what was going on. Pushed the audio button to get rid of the header and them went into settings, general, sync. Screen said NA 2 20 so I'm thinking great, all done. So I turned the car off, removed the USB and restarted the car. Now I get the "Install did not complete, try again" or something like that.

So I put the USB back in and get the upload software header. Back on the road for another 1/2 hour. At this point I think maybe I have a bad file or license (that has happened before). So I'm headed home to start all over. I turn onto the street before my community and guess what? I get the install complete screen. Over 2 hours later. What a huge pain in the ass.

I looks the same but I didn't have the time to play around with it. Tomorrow's another day.

I downloaded the files yesterday and did not get this. I think this was for those of you who did the download on 9/1.

Does anyone know if these free updates are a time limited offer? It looks like I have a free one also but since we're still under some international travel restrictions I'd rather wait to update until I can go anywhere I want. I already know how to get to the places I'm currently able to go.
