The water in the mirrors used to drive me crazy but once I started to remember to stick the drying towel under the mirror and capililary action will draw the water out.

Do you have a spoiler? I know mine is different because it's a v6, but what annoys me is all the water that gets trapped along the spoiler. After washing I'll have the trunk open and it seems to be a nonstop trickle of water coming off the spoiler, down the trunk, and into that same area. I have to save that spot for last, otherwise it just keeps dripping.

BTW, I dry my car with a leaf blower and don't get water pooling anywhere:headbang:
I like a towel for the body of the car. But the leaf blower works wonders for the side mirrors, tail lights, wheels, and front grill.

I'll have to break that leaf blower out. Do have a spoiler on your V6? I hope the blower will get all the water trapped in there. I sur elike the Leaf blower idea as it puts out a much larger volume of air that covers a bigger area than my air compressor would.

Invest in a car dryer. I use it all the time after washing both of my Mustang's. It blows off the water in-between all the panels and wheels.

Yeah, I looked at those, including one that is heated, but as I've mentioned on other forums in the past, the leaf blower trick was shared with me by a shop just across the bridge from Philly back in the 80's that sells VERY high end vehicles, and I've been using it since. $40 electric blower (Black & Decker) that blows 240mph, air speed can be adjusted, has adjustable length blower tube, and allows me to clean the walk and driveway, and converts to a vacuum that mulches leaves. Far more use for far less money.

Just my $.02.

The leaf blower works well, no doubt. Just be aware of your surroundings...wouldn't want to blow dirt/sand/etc. up off the ground onto your newly cleaned car.

Ryan, you're kidding us right? That or you may have discovered a major item that the Ford Team dropped the ball on. Kidding!

This has happened on everyone car or truck that I'ver owned. Take a look at the door jams and under the hood...Same thing. Those areas always have to be dryed as well. I always open the trunk, doors and hood and wipe those down.

My pet peeve is the residual H20 that keeps dripping out of the side mirrors after washing and rinsing the soap out of there. It keeps on dripping and leaving water spots along the door as I drive.

One thing that I do is...I take my compressor hore with the rubber tip nozzle, (So as not to make a mistake and scratch) and I go around all of those nooks and crannys, tail lights, badges, head lights, door handles, lug nuts ect. And blow out as much or most of the water and that helps speed up the detail.
It isn't the same as door jams with drops of water here and there. I have the ring a MF cloth out twice trying to get all the water out of there. It's not just droplets here and there. It is literally a pool of water. When I wash it tomorrow I will take pics with a tape measure, but it has to be a good 3/4 -1 inch of water that just sits there. I get it, water is clear and hard to tell from the pictures, but it does pool.

On the right side taillight, does it fit tighter against the body than the left? That might be why water pools there. On my car it's supposed to run behind the taillight and out underneath it behind the bumper cover. The wires go through a sealed grommet behind the taillight. Pull your taillight away and see if this is where your water is supposed to go. Maybe dremel out a small groove in the edge of the taillight at the touch point where it meets the body. Make sure the trunk lid will cover it when closed. You shouldn't even be able to notice it if done right. You should be able to see the problem when you pull the taillight away. Just a suggestion.

Any vehicle, with a trunk or hatch, regardless of manufacturer will exhibit the same water accumulation in the "gutters" after heavy rain or washes... The water will drain out as designed. Usually when I wash my vehicles, I ALWAYS dry all of the door jambs, trunk gutters and also the front inner fenders (hood open). In fact, if you open your hood after a wash, you should also see the same type of water "pooling" (as you say) occurring on the tops of the inner fenders.

Now if you are getting water pooling INSIDE of the trunk, that is another issue entirely of concern...
