Just a quick check here, how many of you guys are running on water meth kit? Also, what are your insights/feedback on power gain and any other info you want to throw in. Í've had a couple of forced induction cars, but never installed this kit. any feedback appreciated. I'm currently on phase 2 stage 3 roush so If you are running on SC better....:)

I see this has gone unanswered, so I'll chime in. There have been some here who have run meth with there setup(links provided below). The key to making more power with meth is having your tune designed to add extra timing when meth is getting sprayed. For street car this isn't really practical, so many here don't use it. For a dedicated track car it could add 75-100 whp with the proper calibration adding timing where spray comes in.

I must admit I was surprised it's not used on the S550 platform as so many use meth injection safely to add power. I used meth for years on my street 92 Kenne bell Fox with 363 stroker with no issues, but again don't feel the need to run it on this platform. It has potential for sure just no willing to use it for a street car, and I'm not interested in bumping timing for it to risk a clogged nozzle or lack of flow and hurt the motor. There are many safeguard out know with meth kits that monitor flow, but then it all gets more complex.

I use Methanol with my setup. Its worked great for me. Great as a safe guard against detonation also if you use it with the smallest jet.

Thanks guys! I've been thinking strongly about installing the system more for protection purposes due to the fuel quality I might encounter locally sometimes.... Had some problems before with my mitsubishi evo and just looking to protect myself. Any recomendation on the kits and type? I've seen many go with Snow Perf. and AEM, snow being a little bit less expensive, but not sure on whether stage 1, 2 or 3? I'm not looking to increase significantly hp, just maintain my actual results (even loss little bit) by running richer mix.

Great info, I too am surprised its not used regularly with boosted S550s. I used it on my Grand National and cranked the boost up to 30psi spraying meth.

It's not particularly needed on S550's due to the computer. You guys commenting on using it in days past on older vehicles probably needed it. With modern computers and knock sensors can stop the catastrophic knocking before it gets severe.

That said having it as insurance to high boost/low fuel quality issues is a whole different deal.

Depending on water/meth(high boost/high timing) is a whole different deal as well due to if the pump fails, or the nozzle is clogged you are asking for a mess.

No info for Mustangs but I ran Snow Performance Stage III direct 4 port-injection kit on my last WRX. I ran a 50/50 mix and never had issues with it. It basically made my car run as if it was winter all the time. I also was able to get over 100whp out of it but had it tuned back some. Helps reduce intake manifold temps as well as octane boosts.

Snow Performance, AEM and AquaMist are the ones I know. AM probably be the best unit but more in depth for installing it because it ties into the ECU harness, injectors and runs with the injector pulses.

I still was always paranoid because of the event of a clogged injector, failed pump or line but never had issues. I made my own mix using -20 washer fluid and 3 bottles of HEET to make a gallon. Probably cost around 6$. They have ECU upgrades that will cut timing, BCS failsafes that cuts boost, etc if it detects any sort of flow issues. The hard part is, after a certain point it's almost impossible to know if it's not flowing unless you have sensors at the end of the injectors.

I was surprised as well that it wasn't more common especially for the guys drag racing. For drag racing this would really work well becuase you bump the timing up when meth comes in and your going to make more power and run faster for sure. For street use I think most here just don't want to complicate things with meth and adding timing for street use and DD is where the fail safe like flow sensors and such would give the added safety, but still not 100%. These cars make great power without meth anyway, enough that motor motor will become the limit with especially with longevity in mind.

I have considered just so I could run 3.50" pulley on the street wi 93 octane, because Whipple doesn't recommend smaller than 3.65" pulley on 93 octane. This would give the safety margin needed with 93 and smaller pulley, but then it's still a risk. Christ I don't know why I'm worried (maybe because I already lost a motor to OPG failure) because I ran meth for years on my street ride blown 92 couple without issue and I had added timing in for the meth.

you can get 750whp out of 93 octane and a can of torco.

past that youre looking at a fuel system anyways with e85 and injectors. thats only about $3000 installed and will do anywhere from 800whp to 1600whp, which past 1000whp require a new motor, trans, and probably other stuff im forgetting. that alone is $20k worth of upgrades.

yeah you can do a meth kit, but it isnt exactly required.

its just one other point of failure.
