I have to laugh at anyone that comes on a site devoted to a car whose specs have yet to be released, and is upset that people are debating the different possibilities. Some people

Yes that is obvious, you appear to be upset that people are having a conversation and clearly speculating as too what is possible. What is wrong with that until we get real info?

Just so I am clear, Ford should....
5.0 500rwhp n/a engine that passes fed/state regs,
in a car that weighs less than the mustang gt,
with no gas guzzler tax,
at what price point?

Basically you guys are asking for a $50k engine in a $50k vehicle. :frusty:

After all it was done by the guy up the street.

Slightly overdramatic there. Nobody has suggested that.
The aluminator is around $15k. Coyotes are what $6-7k? Thats retail. So the parts aren't that expensive. The GT350 will probably be at least 15k base more than at base GT.
You guys act like we are talking about something that hasn't been invented yet.
But no we will never see it in our lifetimes because its not currently being sold.

At the end of the day ford can produce an engine that will get 550hp and be reliable, but can they do it at the cost that is appropriate for a mustang. I do not know. It essentially comes down to cost

Reading matters.

Yes it's about price. No it would not be a 50k engine.

That kind of power can be done with a 5.2 at a SE price point but I doubt they do. IIRC the first info we got about voodoo came from someone who worked on the powertrain on one of the Ford forums. It was said early on that they scaled it back for reliability and durability concerns. Seeing as how this is more likely a Boss 302 replacement anyhow, I would expect closer to 500. No need to push it with all indications that a halo GT500 is not going anywhere.

Other than Audi/Lambo and Ferrari name another manufacturer that has put a 5.0L+ with 100hp/L into a vehicle?

If it was as easy and inexpensive as you say there must be tons of them floating around.

Well, this has been fun :chill:

What's the betting, even if GT350 is revealed at NY/Vegas/Charlotte, that they don't tell us what's under the hood?:frusty::headbonk:

They said the ground rules was at least .625L per cylinder so evidently that dont count. Just cause it hasnt been done yet with a 5.0 V8 doenst mean it cant be done.
We shall soon see.

0.5L per cylinder does seem to be the sweet spot. but I'm not holding out for V10.

And how many 662hp V8's were floating around before 2013? :headbonk:
How many people thought the earth was flat in the middle ages?

who know what will be, the thread has essentially bogged down between two arguments mixed up

1. Is it possible to make a 550hp 5.XL NA V8 - the consensus seems to be that it is possible.
2. Will Ford do it (at a cost point suitable for a mustang)? - consensus is who knows

those who are arguing FORD WILL NOT seem to want to argue point 1 on technical merits and vice versa.

Evidence is that it is possible to make an engine with that power, but I do think that actual engine in the GT350 will be closer to 500hp.
