Viking Shocks - The PP "Bounce" is Gone!

Viking told be to use the bump stops BUT to cut off about 1 inch from the factory bump stop to let it have more travel ..This was the old shock not the new updated ones I have now .. Seeing that the rod is longer it might not need to be cut down like the old rod .. Might be a good idea to call them and ask ..

@beefcake I noticed these didn't come with nuts for the stud mount, Am I supposed to reuse the factory nut? The bag of hardware just had bolts washers and nuts for the bottom mount.

My replacements came right from Viking and had all the nuts ..

I have the new version on hand awaiting summer before installing them (Live in Alaska). I took a look at the paperwork. It would be nice to have a diagram and a few pictures to go by for a successful installation. I would think Viking would want this newer version to be a success.

I got my new shocks finally installed today.

The new shaft version uses the factory top nut. I also removed the snap ring from the top of the shaft and slid the factory bump stop and dust boot over the viking shock then replaced the snap ring.

I went for a short test drive afterwords they handle much better than the base shocks. I currently have them set 3C/5R based on the suggestions I have seen. I noticed after I installed the lower control arm bearings and toe link bearings those seemed to exaggerate the rear suspension bounce with the factory shocks. I may try to lower the compression setting 1 click and test a little more. The rear suspension compression is definitely more firm but not harsh and the rebound feels about spot on.

Sorry, forgot to ask....if your car is lowered, did you have to trim the bump stop? My car is stock and was wondering the bump stop procedure. Thanks much, your the man.

Yes my car is lowered on BMR performance springs with BMR sways set full soft.

Yes I trimmed my Factory bump stops per the Image in the BMR lowering spring instructions. It shouldn't be required if your not lowering the car. The new version shaft matched the size and thread of the factory shock with an added snap ring on the top edge of the shaft.

On my short test drive last night I could not hear any noise from the back of the car with the new shocks. I even drove it down a bumpy road to see how it handled.
