Guys sorry for the likely silly/obvious question, but what is the best way to install one of these and trim the grille like Jmeo did? Do you have to remove the whole bumper or just part of it and just slide the grill out?

To do it the way I do you will have to remove the bumper completely because it's clipped into it pretty good. No other way to get it out. The bumper comes off pretty easy.

The other way mentioned here is to use a Dremel and open each hole individually

Any of you who have this: How much of an issue are bugs getting into the filter box/dirtying up the filter?

I live in florida and I'm always cleaning bugs from my grill.

Also, I have the EB: can I open up my grille for this to fit or do I definitely need a new grille?

Ive only had mine for about a month so not sure how the bugs are since it's getting cold now here in Missouri. I just moved back from Florida 2 years ago. Miss the winters there for sure. The velossa is made for the GT grill, not sure if the ecoboost grill will benefit from it. You would def have to open all the holes with a dremel or you would get zero benefits from it. I just ordered a new Cervinis grill which is based off the gt design so I might have to sell my red one if interested. Thats if I cant get it to work. Should know this week when it comes in.

Kinda bummed this doesn't work on the 50th Anniversary grill.

Anyone tried to modify one to work?

you could probably get it to work with one of the Gen1 version of the big mouth that protruded too far for the regular grill. You'd still need to shave the back/dremel out the 50th grill and may have to work on getting to stay in place.

Several of us were shipped new versions and may still have the Gen1 sitting around for you to try....

Mine's still in a box for this exact reason. I already broke my bumper tabs installing the Gen1 and replaced the bumper. Until I have to remove the bumper again the old one is staying.

Did you pay for another or did they just send it? If they just sent it i wonder why i wasn't offered that. Darn

Thats part of the reason i wasn't in a hurry to remove the bumper again. Ford did i stupid thing making these part of the bumper. Well, im sure they did it for this very reason to get people to need whole bumpers. Mine arent broke but i hate pushing my luck. I have to remove the bumper for the turbo kit install eventually.

There's nothing wrong with the bumpers. One or two times off and on isn't going to hurt anything. In my case I've had it off quite a few times for different projects and they finally gave out installing this.

Is there no way to fix the tabs that are broke? I have one that is cracked but it is staying in place ok. I figured if I had to remove the bumper again I would bond up the tab somehow.

If you have it off you have a better chance with bond. I tried with it on, it didn't stay. It's at dealer now for that and other stuff.

I tried but failed on the first attempt - there's very little area to bond to. I was able to get a new take-off shipped to my door for $400 with both grilles, splitter, and fog surrounds so it wasn't too bad. I still have the original and one day will work on reattaching the tabs again. :)
