Have there been any measurements to show a gain in airflow? And if so how much? Sorry, Just curious about numbers haha!

It really is self explanatory, direct more cold air into the airbox not all reduces intake temperature and creates more denser air but will ensure your getting more of peak power at all times.

These kind of modifications do not improve horsepower, they just ensure your getting the rated horsepower all the time.

The intake air temp sensor on the car reports air temp to ECU and it retards/advances ignition and other calibrations based on such data, robbing your horsepower. So such a modifcation is a good thing. :)

Look at the BMW M3 CSL, it had a direct cold air feed from the bottom of its bumper directly into the air box to reduce IAT's and improve running.

My only worry is the M3 CSL air duct intake was down low and far away from the air filter, whereas this one is quite close to the air filter itself so will be interesting to see if the filter element gets wet in heavy rain, won't cause an issue as to hydrolock the engine the filter would have to be submersed in water which won't happen unless you drive through a 4ft deep puddle. :D

I would like to wait for the numbers to increase so as to get the $80 price. Especially works for those of us whose cars are parked for the winter right now.

Another idea is to offer black at the low price, and then colors for a small upcharge? (Perhaps bc of volume, not cost.)

While colder air almost always is denser and makes more power, I think people put WAY too much emphasis on IAT's pulling timing. Here is what the stock tune does with timing based off of IAT. There is a base table, which has the amount of timing to retard for some IAT values. The number pulled from that table is then multiplied by another table based on load and RPM. The maximum correction factor in that table is 0.14 and the minimum is 0.10.
So here's what the IAT table looks like.

IAT Spark X max correction: 0.14= Timing added/subtracted based on IAT
-40= 30 = +4.2 degrees
0 = 30 = +4.2 degrees
70 = 15 = +2.1 degrees
100 = 0 = 0 degrees
150 = -50 = - 7 degrees
200 = -100 = - 14 degrees
250 = -150 = - 21 degrees

So you really need to have over 110 degree IATs before it will even pull 1 degree of timing, which does happen down here in the south every summer. But you would notice the loss in power from the air density far more than 1 degree of timing being pulled. And if you have ambient temps of 100+ degrees, there's really nothing that can be done about it.

All the colors cost me the same, I dont need to charge people more for something that isnt necessary!! :headbang:

Hence why I said "volume" and not "cost" reason. But your volume is so small right now, and they are printed one at a time, so there is no reason to "stock up" until you hit the big time and your part shows up at CJPP. :thumbsup:

Anyway, the only reason I would want a colored one is if you offered some sort of matching "partial part" to balance out the look at the passenger side. Otherwise, I prefer black for stealth mode in case the car goes in for service.

Keep up the good work.

Yea thats the goal, get in with a big distributor. Gotta spread the word first. We know airflow and like to make this kind of stuff.

What kind of other products would you guys want to see, aerodynamic parts.

Front canards?
Brake ducts? (we are very good at this)
etc..

Throw some ideas out and I will play

Can you do a color that comes close to the ruby red?

As for recommendations, for the FI guys...how bout some gauge pod designs?
Or different side and quarter window scoop designs than what's currently offered.

I have toyed with the idea of gauge pods. Here is what I will be offering the Focus ST guys. Not sure when these will come out as I am backed up. But I am trying to make this very special, like nothing seen before.

Two tone gauge pods.

Still preliminary but you get the idea. I have a chemical treatment I will be using for smoothing this specific product. There is a lot more development we have in-house for this pod.

Brake ducts that go into the lower GT grill in the same relative position as this does on the upper would be sweet.

These are the brake ducts I designed for the Focus ST. They are specific to that chassis.

We tested the system in Arizona on a road course, same day same car same driver. This is the performance of this ducting system. On board Infra-red to record rotor temperature real time.

We also have a stage 1 kit that uses scoops that bolt to the A-arms, these were also tested in Arizona in a controlled manner.

These are some of the finest aerospace level components you can get for the Focus ST. All tested on a road course and all perform optimally for their intended design. :)

Would you guy be interested in this kind of stuff for the S550 Platform??
