My 2 cents is that I'm not buying anything used, esp. if financed, until all this nonsense calms down and prices return to something reasonable. No reason to buy used if new is only slightly more expensive and you'd be the only owner with a lower interest rate.

True. I guess I could always trade in down the road if prices ever go down and I really wanted to. Iā€™m just getting impatient waiting for my order. Appreciate all the responses so far. I needed people to talk some sense into me.

I rolled the dice on a used 2020 Mustang with only 960 miles on it this year. Even though it's a 2020 it was first titled in April of 2021, meaning that it had only been on the road for 10 months when I bought it. My last used car purchase was over 30 years ago, so I was a bit nervous, but similarly equipped new Mustangs were pricing out at almost $10k more than I paid.

It really comes down to the options. If they are important to you, then go for the used '19 and don't look back. If you think you can live without them, then the new car is a bit of a safer bet.

Id go with the used premium over the New Base.

Since I have the window sticker for the 2019, I priced a 2022 on Fordā€™s website with the same options. Just for fun.

MSRP on the 2019 was $44,630

Same options today is now $48,430ā€¦

and the 22 price is without the raised deck lid spoiler. Wouldnā€™t let me add it without removing Black Accent pckg.

That does make things more interesting. Kinda crazy MSRP has went up that much for basically no actual changes.

We can take it a step further.

My 2022 base with basically no options besides Sync 3 is $43,660ā€¦

Thatā€™s enough depression for today before I overthink myself out of getting a new car at all. Period.

id do the 19 with premium options personally. 9k is low mileage.
And it's not a pandemic special that's possibly made under less than ideal conditions.

Good for the OP to stick to his budget. If the car is out of warranty can you cover the cost of repairs? Sucks to make car payment plus a repair bill. Find out when the in-service data was. Look into ESP and have the used car checked out by someone you trust.

Take the used, Offer $37k, settle at $39K, spend $1k on the Ford ESP from Flood.

When I started to look I was seeing 20 and 21 GT Premiums (401A with A10) with less than 10K miles for low to mid 40's. I ordered a fairly well loaded 2022 GT Premium (401A, A10, Active Exhaust, B&O tunes, Black Accent, 3.55 gear, Cyber Orange paint) with an MSRP of $50,415 and bought it for $45,968 - $1,000 for ordering it. So brand new for basically what I was seeing used ones for.

Consider in the price - if you're financing, used rates are higher.
Not necessarily. I bank with a credit union and their loan rates for used (MY 2017 to 2022) are the same as new.
