Hi Guys,

I have been observing a weird grinding noise during deceleration in my stang when I let off the throttle and come to rolling stop. It is an auto transmission. Mostly I drive in S with manual override mode using paddle shifters. Now a day I also feel the transmission being sticky when I try to change gears with paddle shifters.

I initially overseen this sound but now its getting loud as days pass by. As suggestion before I take it down to a dealership??

FYI: Grinding sound exits in all modes D,S,+/- even I could hear it in N when I try to rev the engine :frusty:

All your thoughts and suggestions are much appreciated.

*SSM 45172 - 2015 3.7L And 5.0L Mustang- Exhaust Rattle, Knock Noise*

Some 2015 Model Year Mustang vehicle built on or before 3/30/15, equipped with 3.7L Duratec 4V and 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 engines may exhibit exhaust rattle/knock noise emitting from the muffler resonator. Elevating idle to 1500 RPM and performingthrottle tip-in, tip-out events in neutral will assist in confirming noise concern and is not to be confused with an exhaust leak that was addressed with a previously released TSB on 2015 Mustang 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 equipped vehicles. Updated muffler resonator assemblies are now available to resolve vehicle concern. Reference Workshop Manual Section 309-00B or 309-00C Exhaust System for component location and Removal and Installation procedure.
Most likely that. If you go to the dealer, let us know how it goes.

Guess what... you were bang on!! . Just took my stang today to dealership and they confirmed the sound was from the resonator. They have order new resonator from ford and told that it would take 2-3 days for shipment to arrive.

Sad part is I have axle backs and again I need to bear the installation chargers for my Borla stingers once the new exhaust system comes at dealership
