Wow just noticed you said you did the the BMR links. Maybe you right about the bearing between the plates and the spring. Let us know your findings. Thanks.Anybody had an upper strut bearing fail yet? I installed Steeda Pro Action adjustables, Steeda camber plates, BMR end links, with linear Steeda sport springs. I had the springs on the PP shocks for approx 20k miles before going to Pro Actions and camber plates. I reused the bearings and didnt notice any problems when I installed them on the new shocks. Everything sounded fine then I did a track day / autocross at Memphis raceway a couple weeks ago. While driving home I noticed a popping noise while turning and going over small bumps at low speed coming from the RF. I have checked the torque on everything and had my dad go over it to make sure I didnt miss something. I can't figure it out. I went ahead and ordered upper bearings as they are only $20 a piece.
I dont suspect it's any of the aftermarket parts. The BMR end links are some burly pieces as are the Steeda plates.Wow just noticed you said you did the the BMR links. Maybe you right about the bearing between the plates and the spring. Let us know your findings. Thanks.
Agreed. I better start looking in to the bearing between the plates and spring.I dont suspect it's any of the aftermarket parts. The BMR end links are some burly pieces as are the Steeda plates.
Great to hear! Plus, thanks for sharing!!z06psi SUCCESS!!!! Both upper strut bearings were "faulty". Got the 2nd one replaced today and just took it for a drive. I hit every bump I know that cause em to pop before and now its quiet as a church mouse. Just got get it in for alignment and change brakes and fluid and its ready for VIR.
If you are upgrading shocks or camber plates go ahead and change the upper bearing while you are in there. $20 per side and maybe it will save some time and you wont have to go on and right back off when one fails.
I do all the work on my car. I know they were positioned correctly cause you have to line them up as you decompress the spring. All I can figure is at Memphis raceway the rumble strips are raised more than other tracks Ive been to. Some of the corners you carry a good bit of speed and probably get the tire off the ground if you hit the line just right. Maybe the loading and unloading of the bearing at high speed killed em.@TNcoupe That's great to hear, glad you found it and got it taken care of and thanks for sharing!
A couple questions, sorry if already answered and I missed or forgot. Is yours a PP? Also, did you do the install or a shop? Just curious if it was a shop, maybe they didn't get them positioned correctly the first time?
