The Faital Pro mentioned above by Racemaster would be a good choice. Other good choices are Tang Band, Peerless/Tymphany and Dayton. Check out this link to Parts Express;
http://www.parts-express.com/cat/mi...eca:matches(.,"P_Searchable","1")]&PortalID=1

The factory midranges are 1.5" deep and there isn't much room between their surround and the door card, so try to find something that is close to that depth.
I have a Brax 3.1's that i've been thinking about using in a build for my daily driver, wonder if they would fit..

Those are listed at 42mm deep, which equates to 1.65354 inches... it might be close.

If you dremel out a little bit of the built in hole, you can go deeper. I used Kickers and they sound great.

True... I only mentioned the depth of the factory speaker for those wanting to do a direct replacement. If you are willing to do some cutting or create some mounting baffles, you can go with speakers of greater depth.

On the topic of speaker impedance, the factory tweeter and 3.5 are both 2ohm speakers being driven in parallel, so technically, they present the factory amp with a 1ohm load :eyebulge: My point is that if you are looking at keeping the factory amp, then you can also consider 4ohm speakers as replacements and not limit yourself to 8ohm speakers.

Just curious, are those "parts-express" speakers any good for having such low prices??

I have used the faital pro speakers from parts express with great success.
3inchfaitalpro (Custom).webp

I band-passed them with a simple cap and coil to give them a range of 400hz-6000hz if I remember.
Bandpasscrossover (Custom).webp

They sounded pretty good,but then I swapped out to a full Hertz Mille set.

I thought the 3.5 was 8ohm? Is it really 4? I've been going nuts looking for a, 8ohm 3.5 with the right depth. Are they all 4ohm in the door and tweater then?

Like someone else said, the moment I think I have this figured out I learn something else.

Most of the cars have a 8 ohm 3.5" and a 8 ohm tweeter in parallel so the amp see's a 4 ohm load.But I do remember someone posting on here last year that they pulled a 4 or 2 ohm speaker from their doors.I can't find the pictures at the moment,but maybe you can by digging around some more.If you are keeping the factory wiring with the mid and tweeter wired together,I would look for 8 ohm components to keep the load correct.If you are going to re-wire to a crossover,4 ohm pieces will work better.
