Friend of mine works for a satelight company that supplies seats for Toyota.

Getting the bumps out of production on any model with major revisions seems to always involve a lot of stops and starts and last minute o.t. and quality control or supply issues and a bit of redesign on the fly as problems are found.

It is not a nightmare, just requires a bit of patience, but if folks are making assumptions that the process will be smooth and predictable, then there will be a lot of disappointment.

So true. I work for an automotive supplier and directly interface with the manufacturers when lines a re stopped. It's not fun launching a new car.

Keeping busy works pretty good for me. About the only times I let it get to me is when I'm browsing the forum.

mine showed a current build week of 11/2 the past week, but today it is now showing 10/26, with build date of 10/27. it will prob be updated again as the date comes closer

Same here. I was surprised to see it jump to a week sooner, but I'm definitely not complaining.

It's not really so easy when you also have to factor in allocations and constraints. I know this is a little bit of Apples/Oranges as this is a GM experience but I am pretty sure it still applies to Ford since I know that a couple of the German manufacturers do the same thing:

I think this explains GM's bankruptcy and current difficulties all by itself. No rational organization would operate this way. They are apparently consumed by their own bureaucracy. I feel like we are coming to understand Ford's process and logic. I am afraid I would never understand what you explained.

Two large German auto groups I work with work the same way. and they have no money issues. I think that's something completely different and ridiculous. ;)

What I'm hoping these week earlier bumps means is that Ford is either offering overtime to crank out more cars at FRAP, they are finally getting up to speed on the line at FRAP or BOTH. Now if I can just get mine scheduled on 10/16 for a build week of 11/03, 11/10 or 11/17 there may be an outside chance to get my car by Christmas. One can always hope.

Ford Motors only customers are the Ford dealers. At this time all states prohibit direct sales from auto manufacturers to customers. To Ford a stock or retail order is irrelevant to scheduling. The dealers give priority to stock orders, not Ford. Ford bases scheduling on maximizing factory throughput first and order priority second, but the priority is assigned by the dealer.
