I did my F-250. Test case. Lol
My car is not getting that stuff.
Don't make the same mistake I made. Pressure wash all of the NHOU off as soon as possible. Then either take it to Ziebart or any other reputable undercoater other than NHOU.

Fluid film, woolwax, or por15 are good DIY options.

Not sure if it’s available on your side of the border or not, but Rust Check or Crown are both excellent choices in the North country. The pick up gets it regularly and the underside is in excellent condition ( 10 years old) the Mustang is a garage princess November-April lol

I grew up in Indiana. Rust belt but not hard-core like, say, New York. Still my brother's first car had the frame break in two from rust. I learned from that not to use a solid, rubber like undercoat. Anything that gets in stays in and you won't know until it's way too late.
If I lived up north now I'd be using Fluid Film and probably have a shop put it on although it seems like it wouldn't be that difficult a DIY job.
On YouTube look up SouthMainAuto and search his videos for Fluid Film application. I will say that watching his channel makes me question just how rust resistant modern cars really are. He regularly has 7,8,9 year old vehicles that are really questionable if they should be on the road. Being in the south we tend to forget how bad they can get.

Says you have to touch it up every year or two depending on environment.
Everyone has disclaimers on everything now. If it's applied on a clean surface should last. I wouldn't know which one to get ask the auto body supply store I guess. Definitely want an industrial grade one. A touch up every few years is not a big deal assuming you can use a lift.

Por 15 needs paint after drying from what a body guy told me. It is all a lot to digest.

Upstate New York has to be the most punishing environment out there for cars in the USA, so I'm not surprised he sees so many rust buckets. To be fair though, most of what ends up being rotted are stamped steel components like subframes or things like truck ladder frames. You don't really see the horrible body perforations and pinch weld destruction that you used to on 90's and 2000's cars.

Modern cars don't rust.

Wash the underside and the engine bay at the end of the winter and you'll be fine.

When I lived up north in PA, I used to spray my truck with new 15w40 or a heavy weight oil mixed with linseed oil twice a year once in the fall and again in the spring. Makes a mess but kept the rust away from forming, the salt and brine they put on the roads is nasty shit. Biggest thing is to wash them frequently in the winter..

I use black fluid film. It doesn't actually dry but as you drive it stuff sticks to it and keeps a decent coating. I touch it up every year and it does a good job keeping rust away. It's lanolin so if you want to work on it and don't want the mess, a good spray cleaner and a light pressure wash takes it off.

I just did a 6" suspension lift and 37s on my F350. A few times I got myself but it wipes off easily from your skin.
