Took the Raptor out to pick up the generator from the trailer and it's pretty nuts out there. Darned kids are out and about. Gotta stay off the roads right now!

If you donā€™t unhook the hose the water in the hose bib will freeze and break the pipe.
Thank you. I was scratching my head thinking what's the big deal any ice in the hose will melt when it warms up. Keep in mind, anything below 75 is getting a little chilly for me

Or install a frost proof sillcock so you never have to worry about temperature drops. More of a northern thing.

The trick is to make sure the sillcock is tilted slightly "downhill" to the outside so that any water that settles in it will drain out instead of pool in.

Grew up in Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. Remember driving my Mustang Cobra II (I know I was cool) with bald tires and jacked up on air shocks through blizzards to get to my job at the bowling alley (Again, I know I was cool).

Texas is nothing like that very limited sand or salting outside of the big cities. I live 25 miles north of Dallas. There is no such thing as a snow plow here. When the ice and snow melt the roads clear. When you are below freezing for several days and get 6 inches of snow and sleet it takes a while.

I can't complain we have been having rolling blackouts since 2AM Monday of 30min to an hour nonstop. My sister lives in a bigger suburb of Dallas and has been without power since same time. She works at SMU and told me she drove thru Highland Park the VERY rich are of Dallas next to the University. This is where the elite live think Jerry Jones and Mark Cuban. On Tuesday nite all the landscaping and even some xmas lights still on. And no they don't all have backup generators. I guess that makes me a 10%er not a 1%er so can't complain.

But the worst part of this storm is they cancelled my HPDE this weekend as they don't know what condition the track will be in by then.

We have been OK at home but fire and EMS and of course the PoPo have been going crazy. When we tell people to stay in the house and not drive of course no one thinks we actually mean them.

See your in C.B. I'm 76 and have lived in southeast Kansas for many years. Grew up grade school and high school (T.J.) walking to and from school every day. And lived about 2 miles from high school. I remember those long cold snowy winters. But was just a part of life back then. Mom, bought me a new Parka every winter.

Here we go again. At least I have power now. No water. Reminds me a bit of New York.

To most of us, enjoy the weekend of warming temps and getting the 350ā€™s fired up again.

While I ventured out yesterday, FedEx delivered my cradle bolts and filter. Good olde FedEx. UPS rescheduled all my deliveries to next week.
