I currently use vmp for my tuner. They are great and fast. I just recently took it to the dyno and put down 440/380. 2017 m6, cat delete, pmas, 2018 intake manifold.

I am thinking about giving lund at shot. After my lth install.

I have used 5star in the past for my 3.5eb and didn't have any problems. It really did wake up my f150. But then I switched over to MPT and it was a night and day difference. It felt as the MPT tune put out more power. According to the butt dyno.

Really depends on your risk tolerance. Personally I'm an OEM guy and stuck with roush power packs for both my F150 and mustang. There are other aftermarket options out there that will likely make more power but don't go through the validation testing that the FP and roush PP calibrations go through.

That being said, go outside of what those tunes address with additional parts, then you're going email/aftermarket at that point.

Not saying to go one way over the other, rather just giving the reasoning for the route I took.

I have a Lund flex tune w/ GT350 manifold, JLT, LU47. Their service was good and I personally love the tune.

I've been recently toying with the idea of getting a tune for my 16 GT. Right now it is stock but I have a ported 18 manifold, JLT intake, 47 lbs injectors and a GT350 throttle body sitting in my garage ready to be installed. I reached out to Lund but I wasn't impressed by their services. That's why I am here. I would like some recommendations on tunes. What are y'all rockin?
I own a 2017 GT Auto headers,intake.
I had Lunds tunes (X4) on my car for about a year. When I asked them to lower cold start RPMs they said no.
So I bought an HP Tuners NGauge and changed to VMP.
Better drivability and around the same power. VMP Tune is more suited for my driving style and did quiet down my cold start.

Not trying to derail the topic but I recently ordered a dedicated e85r lund tune as well as LTH's and an intake. Looking to have everything installed and done in the same week (hopefully). Whats the process on going about something like this, am I going to receive a baseline tune first, if so how long does this usually take? Apologies if this has been asked numerous times, did a search on the above questions and couldn't find anything. Lund also seems to not be too cooperative on answering my questions.
After you submit your modifications to Lund, you'll get a baseline tune first. Then they'll want you to data log an idle, and a step Rev. (log at different rpm's in park from idle to 1,000rpm hold then 1,500 hold 2,000 hold and 2,500 hold then stop.) You email those 2 back to them and then they'll send a revised tune and ask you to log a wide open throttle in 3rd gear from 2,500 to 7500 RPM. You email that one back to them and they'll send you the final tune. My dedicated E85 & FF final tune I had to have revised because it wouldn't idle correctly. They fixed both with one revision. I'm tuned by PBD.

Just curious. Other than the cold start what did you not like about the Lund tune? Thank you, CH

I had a VMP tune which was solid. Never had a drivability issue at all, but their tune did not pass emissions (they do not claim it will, to be fair) I simply didn't like taking it off for inspections, just a hassle. They sent me a revision but it still would not pass.

How many of tuners are emissions friendly? Using an SCT X4. If I do it again I want to set and forget.

Luckily the Lund tune has always passed Louisiana emissions. And with a GT350 manifold I can't go back to a stock tune for inspections.

I love my 18 manifold but a little jealous of what the 350 manifold is capable of. Good choice!

My first tune was a Ford Performance PP2.1 tune. It was ok at first but after a short period of time I grew tired of the driveability issues. I rallied the M6G troops, created a poll and with some data talked the folks in Michigan to revise the tune and make it available for us.

https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/poll-satisfaction-with-ford-performance-power-pack-2.72159/

Mission accomplished but eventually I wanted more. Keep in mind that the thread was from 2017 and since the new tune has become available I've noticed much greater satisfaction rating.

After a short period of time I found a killer deal on a ported 350 IM and LU47's to add to the PP2 350 CAI and TB. My shop reccomended PBD and knew Rob Shoemaker so I went that route with 91 and e85 tunes. I'm pretty happy with it, the car will destroy other cars that cost 2, 3 and sometimes 4 times as much on the road course.

Best of all I didnt have to deal with Lund or AED's personality issues which are pretty well documented.

Good luck OP with your decision.

Just curious details on this ? Personally I found working directly with Shaun at AED to be one of the advantages of going that route. But since he won't do boosted 18+ without being straight race fuel or e85 was considering Lund for the next stage of this build if keeping the car.

A lot of people I've talked to have had negative experiences with both. 1 guy in my car club had a big issue with AED. It sounds like there's a certain "blow-hard" attitude going on. You see it a lot in the racetrack and gun world too. However both have die hard customers that are very successful.

I don't know man, I feel that I'm the customer and don't need a negative anything if I'm paying anyone to do a job.

In regards to doing race fuel or e85 on a boosted 18, I kind of understand that tactic. The higher octane will allow more flexibility with more aggressive timing.

Good luck with your set up too!

I can second this on AED, he's hit or miss on the attitude department. One time, he sent me the wrong tune causing my car to throw codes and then got an attitude and blamed me for not explaining it right even though I had emailed him multiple times stating what changes I had made.

And like out of the 5 times he sent me a tune, he was a dick and really short with his emails. He answers quick but didn't really answer my questions and was an ass about it most of the time. He also tried to charge me for sending me a tune to turn my cat monitors back on for emissions when he said that all exhaust related tune updates are free.

Zero attitude issues dealing with Lund. Other than them forgetting to turn on my O2 sensors and getting the Louisiana Inspection fail sticker of shame all has been good. I emailed them and requested the O2 sensors be turned on. They sent it back and I passed.
