I'm actually reading more posts agreeing with you nowadays. Some "older" guys are not making the swap at all as they're not buying it.
Having experienced the failure of the LPFS, I'm going to disagree with you. Ford's PCM is not smart enough to detect the failure on its own. If you take it to the dealer, it falls in under the category of "it's not throwing a code, therefore I can't diagnose it and bill Ford for warranty work." You're kind of on your own when it happens, and like I was, it puts you on the hook for your dealer's "diagnostic fee" and possibly a few random parts changes (my total bill was $273, for the "diagnostic fee" plus a new set of Motocraft plugs, plus the labor to put those in. The plug swap didn't do squat...). An injector cleaning helped somewhat, but the root issue was obviously still there. A $37 shot in the dark on my part (swapping the sensor) seems to have resolved it for me.

The ecoboom is caused by misfiring, and I was definitely getting plenty of misfires recorded by the PCM when the LPFS was acting up. I felt I could blow the engine up if I kept things going the way they were (high RPM and high fuel demand situations were where you felt it!).

To mention that everyone with the 2.3 L GDI engine should change out the engine oil to the newest spec. There has been a change to the additive packages .
Look for new modern engine lubricants specifically GDI engines .

What Brian said. SN plus is the newest spec oil. Driven Racing Oil even has a specific DI oil they just released.

Interesting point. Appreciate the perspective - I'm not die-hard either way but this is the kind of informed answer that these decisions should be based on, for sure.
