Didn’t want to confuse things in the other short throw shifter thread so started this one.

Looking for input on short throw shifters for the Tremac 3160 6sp. MGW and I believe Barton are the only 2 options. MGW retains the rear body mount which most suggest going away from to a transmission rear mount. I don’t know if there’s an upgrade for this or how Barton’s mounts up. Anyone upgrade their M1 or GT350 shifter??

I have an MT82 so I don't have a dog in the fight but I'm sure somebody is going to ask why so you might as well elaborate what it is that you want to improve upon given it is one of the already greatest shifters in Mustangdom.

I’ve never heard the shifter referred to as that. It’s not horrible by any means but the throws aren’t short, the shifter is a bit taller than it could be, there’s some slop in the bushings, the 2-3 shift is far from precise. MGW has a video about the stock versus there’s that shows where they made improvements. I may go with theres for $500 but wanted to see if there were other options or especially first hand experience. I know a lot for folks like them on the GT 6sp but I don’t know if the improvement is as considerable on the Tremac. Lot fewer M1 and GT350 cars out there than GTs in order to solicited feedback from.

I replaced the stock shifter on the GT350 with the MGW. I couldn’t be happier with that decision. No more vagueness. No more mis-shifts. 100% goodness

Watch this, seems very promising regarding the MGW shifter.

Apparently it isn't. I've been following some discussions on this subject, and my understanding is that although the gearbox itself is as good as it gets, the shifter isn't. It's a pendulum design, which is capricious and has a tendency to get progressively worse with age and use. Ironically, for all its faults, the MT-82 shifter is better.

Really? That's sad. I don't have any real seat time on the Tremec to compare. It's like Ford decided to put A1 sauce on a well prepared filet mignon.

Did anyone install the Barton Option?
I used to have the Hybrid3 in my Mustang 18GT and loved it. Now am driving a Mach 1 with the Tremec and I was looking in Barton's page to see the options

There is a Flat stick design and could not find a Mach1 option with the pull up option.

However for the GT350 is there, wondering if any change between Mach1 and GT350 shifter?

I would think that GT350s with pull up style is compatible with Mach 1

Any idea?
