Greetings Mustang friends,

I have a 2021 Mustang GT A10 with about 22K miles on it. I am having a weird issue which is kind of difficult to explain but i will do my best.

In normal mode (not S or S+), shifting into 7th gear between the RPM ranges 2K-3K causes a slight vibration. This vibration feels like its at the back of the car, more specifically the passengers rear tire? Keep in mind, this does NOT occur in the RPM ranges of 1-2K, nor does it occur in S+ mode or manual mode. I logged this and sent it to my tuner (Lund) to see if they had any ideas. Here is what they saw, along with their response (on top of picture).

Looking online, i am seeing a term called transmission "shuddering"? Could this potential be what is happening? Is my torque converter going bad? Could it be the valve body? Or could this just be a quirk of the A10? Ive had the 5.0 for less than a year, i am coming from the European platform so i am still learning. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Well, my first thought when you said right rear was bearings. These cars are kinda known for axel bearing/washer problems. And they can have weirdly specific harmonics.
IDK, just a thought.

interesting... it certaintly doesnt feel like its coming from the trans, so it very well could be.

Lund, they should figure out which protection is tripping and tune it out.

Did they send you a log file to log trans PID's?

Lund wasnt very helpful tbh. I will ask for them to log the trans PID's.

Shocked, *shocked* I tell you... (ok, enough of that)

Ever so often I get what sounds like engine "shudder" between 2-3k. It's rare. and I have a 6MT to boot. It's like the fueling is going all kinds of crazy - it's very obviously audible and sounds ugly. What I do is push in the clutch or come completely off the gas for a moment. It stops immediately. Get back on the gas and it's just fine for months until randomly it'll pop up.

I think it happens when the engine is still cold (driving for only a few minutes) and preceded by a couple of on/off/on small throttle transitions.

Does any of that ring a bell?
PS. Tuned by Unleashed.

Sorta.. it happens regardless of the temp for me though. And this is more of an actual vibration, ever so slight but there. Feels like its coming from the rear passenger tire.

given the frequent failure in that department, take a look-see.
Yes i plan to take a look, pretty interesting that it is only really happening in 1 gear and in a certain RPM range though lol.

Mine isn't a GT so not sure. But can you reflash the tune and cause the transmission to relearn everything?
After Ford Changed my fluid it was shifting strange but reloading the cobb tune fixed it.

This is normal for them

Good luck.

The log posted shows TQ+ from transmission

It's most likely a trans torque limit that needs adjusting
Alright, so i drove around, wasted all the E85 and retuned it with Lunds tune for 93. Issue still persists. I have an appointment with Ford on Monday morning. Do you think i should go this route or wait and see if Lund can do anything on their end?

My question is does it work properly when on the Ford tune? Ford will want to flash it stock before they even try to fix it.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Lund to help.

I bought the car used and the previous owner had a PBD flexfuel tune on it. He no longer has the RTD, so the stock Ford tune is lost.

I'd be careful letting Ford touch it. First line in diagnostics is re-flash stock tune. Maybe not first but damn close to the top of the flow chart.

Are there any other changes? CAI ect that would need a tune other than the stock one?

You said you have a Lund tune. Do you have a flashing device with Lund's tune on it?
