low volume is a killer. Corvette pricing is probably 1/2 to 2/3 Ford's price.

A big hit on repairs is one reason that ppl who can sometimes barely afford a car, or can finally afford one from the used market get in a tight spot. Repairs eventually come with everything. Definitely something to consider in addition to sticker price.
