It's probably due to the cold weather and the fluid being optimized for high temp track usage. Does it go away after the car is warmed up?

Hmm... With the oil temp at 80c the trans should be warmed up by then. Best of luck.

in colder condition, before driving off, I always depress clutch and row the gears from 1-6 then back to 1. see if that helps.

Did this happen from the very first drive or is it new just occurring?

If it just started I would take it to the dealer right away.

If it happened from the beginning it may be a characteristic of the vehicle and how it is built.

I would take it back either way. The cut on second gear teeth isn't any different than the other 5 so it should not be producing excessive noise. In reverse you'll hear normal gear whine from straight cut gears. My brother had an 11 with excessive noise in second and eventually started to catch on engagement. He took it in and they replaced second along with multiple dog collars. Not suggesting these are the same transmissions obviously, but still should have it looked at.

That doesn't do anything because the gears are not spinning.

If you have to listen for it, don't worry about it. If it's a screech where it can be heard over say the radio at a reasonable level, then get it checked out. Honestly, I think you're just making yourself go mad.

I had a very nasty whine coming from my '11 car but it was a brutal whine. Very noticeable, very loud. It was like I had a Kenne Bell on my rear axle. If that's the case, then go get it checked out.

took it to the dealer
drove with the technician; he suggested to drive it for a while and let the gears mesh;
if i push the shifter to the drivers side the noise disapears
and yes I have to listen for it with the radio off and in normal mode otherwise I can't hear it ; so maybe im being too picky ?
however i do have the warrenty
I'll revisit the issue in the spring :0
