Tranny Fluid Choice (Motul)

Sooooo, just a beer question...what tranny fluid are you guys using? Sticking with MC?

I just happened to be window shopping for random stuff and discovered that Motul has their ATF that meets the LV, meets the Ford spec, and even calls out the Motorcraft fluid number by name...

MERCON LV, MERCON ULV, WSS-M2C922-A1, WSS- M2C949-A, XT-10-QLVC, XT-6-QSP (SP)

So, just curious what everyone is using these days if you've swapped to something.

As a side note while I was on the site...their 5W50 has a very nice 350 specific write up on the tech data sheet! I had always said, if I didn't use what I use now, I'd most likely run Motul.

The FORD WSS-M2C931-D specification requires the lubricant to be both API SN Plus and 5W-50 in order to perfectly lubricate certain high-performance FORD Gasoline engines such as Focus RS 2.3 EcoBoost AWD and Ford GT produced from 2016, and Mustang GT350, GT350R from 2018.
FORD WSS-M2C931-D specification also covers previous versions, i.e. FORD WSS-M2C931-C and 931-B recommended for the Ford Mustang GT V8 5.0L, Boss 302 V8 5.0L, Mustang GT350 from 2015 and Shelby GT500 from 2006; and FORD WSS-M2C931-A recommended for the Ford GT V8 5.4L from 2004-2006.

I just changed out my trans fluid (Tremec 3160) to the Redline D4 ATF. Actually made a noticeable improvement to shift quality, and got rid of the occasional gear nibble I was experiencing

You have a manual trans right?

For my manual trans I used Motul Multi DCTF. It has the closest viscosity to OEM while being just a tad thicker. Works fantastic, the trans always feels really nice to use.

For my manual trans I used Motul Multi DCTF. It has the closest viscosity to OEM while being just a tad thicker. Works fantastic, the trans always feels really nice to use.
I went with the Motul Multi DCTF as well, and am really happy with the feel!

Uuhhhhh, yeah…I mean, I think so. I thought I did, but the owners book calls for an ATF, so now I’m not totally sure what I have. Is there an easy way to tell for sure?

It actually calls for a DCTF, which is a little different from ATF

Where are you getting that? The manual calls for MERCON LV. Is that not an ATF?
Mercon LV is for the automatic trans cars. You must have just read the wrong section.

I believe in the past LV was used for everything, but now it's a DCTF fluid for the manuals.

Must be a really old manual if it specs motorcraft orange coolant, haha. What year is your car exactly? And where did you find this manual? As I said, LV was used in the past, so now I'm really curious

It’s a ā€˜17, and this is directly from the 350 supplement. Did the tranny fluid change in later years?
