It's definitely related to the temperature. Now that it's getting a bit warmer these days in Germany, the issue seems to have resurfaced. There were no clunking or popping noises until the temperature rose to 8°C. It's happening again now, even with winter tires on the car.
I suspect it could be...
It's -4°C in Germany and no noise. When cold this issue does not happen in any way. As I already wrote, only happens and noise level rises when getting warm. Its starts like beginning from 8°C. And is happening always like from 18°C.
I have a consideration in mind that hasn't been discussed regarding this issue: could it be related to the brakes or the braking system? I can sense the noise in the pedals when it occurs, and since the brakes are directly connected to the pedals, when I apply them, I hear a similar 'clunk'...
funny, this thread was out of my scope till now. however, same noise when full lock left turn, for example when driving out of a parking spot. Does NOT happen when NOT moving. Only happens when starting to drive. Does only happen when wheather is warm.
Currently its 0-3°C Berlin it does not...
Summary of the noise issue with my car:
The noise does NOT occur when the car is stationary. It only happens when full lock turning left from a stationary position, for example when exiting a parking spot.
The noise does NOT occur in reverse.
The noise does NOT happen when the car is cold or...
Lol i dont know
Lol. I am experiencing the same:
When we turn the rack to full left lock-
So that the steering wheel cannot possibly turn any further left....
...followed by starting to pull forward...
our steering wheel turns just a little bit more to the left, as we start to roll...
It may be half-knowledge on my part, but my gut feeling tells me that it's either the springs or something that's rubbing against each other. It's definitely felt in the pedal. I don't know if its normal or a connected issue but I can also feel the road in the pedal sometimes, If I drive over...
Yes exactly the same. What I ask myself is which parts are build closely to the pedals, because I can feel that in the foot are. I really start thinking whether it's the steering gear even it does not feel like that. Also I can hear some noises when I drive over uneven surface with hard lock...
It seems like you are talking about the opposite behavior.
For me:
- standing: everything OK, NO NOISE, when turning the steering wheel in any position
- moving out of parking spot: noise when turning full lock left
They changed the universal joint and the strut mount but with no luck. I will change the tires soon to winter tires and then try to listen if there is any change. Maybe it's because of the michelin tires.
And it only happens when driving forward. So many questions and no obvious damage on any...
I have a very similar noise.
When parking out I hear 2-3 time knocking coming from lower left area behind steering wheel. I can also feel it in the foot area.
Here is a video
If you turn up the volume and listen carefully u can hear it. It only happens when turning left.
Also for me after both repairs the noise went away for some hours/day, where I thought "oh ok, they finally found the issue and the repair was succesful" - I think it was because the car was lifted up and down afterwards while repairing - suspension/front parts were relaxed and kind of stuff.
I returned to the Ford dealership once more, where they had already replaced the universal joint and left strut bearing, but without any success in resolving the issue. I had a conversation with the mechanic, who couldn't identify any obvious component that could be causing the popping noise. He...
