I am getting a trailer hitch put on my Mustang. Why? That is a good question. My legs are functioning less and hurting more. The trailer hitch will allow me to put an aluminum folding platform on the back. I got an ultra lite manual wheelchair to take with me. The whole rig weighs less than 75# counting the chair. Is that to much sprung weight on the back?

A trailer puts the tongue weight on the ball which is usually not far from the hitch mounting points. A rack may put the weight much further back from the mounting points and may only support much less weight than the hitch rating. As an example a hitch extender derates the weight by 50%.
Write to the hitch seller to see if they have concerns.

I have a hitch for a bike rack. I've put about 100 lbs on it and driven to Florida and back w/o issues. I did some test runs before the long trip.

If you can, I would config. a trailer hitch, and a bike rack that uses the hitch to put it on and off, this will keep the wheelchair closer to the trunk of the car, making it easier to park, and less likely to get hit as it not stick out as far. bonus, to hide your tag.

I’ve done over 2000 miles with 4 tires on a cargo platform totaling about 225 lbs. you will be fine at half that.

just send it. Sure it adds weight and the car might drive slightly different. I doubt you'd ever notice a difference on the street. As far as handling it, If the receiver is rated for it, it will be fine.

I can put a jet ski on my hit hauler which extends my receiver out 24" and I've still pulled my 3300 pound bout behind it. That's with a factory hitch.
