You are correct, but what I like about memory seats is the easy entry/exit function that comes with it. That, to me, is worth the extra $$$.
yea love that, like being placed into Thunderbird 1, and the BLIS is just brilliant, also the cross traffic warning has saved me backing out as the car is very low compared to a SUV
for me over the pond, also the ACC is excellent, love the extras and all the Euro owners are green with envy

I enjoy my 401a. Coming from a WRX, the shaker system is a huge upgrade and the leather seats are very conformatable. The only option I question myself on is why I went for navigation.

Only thing I wish I had is the Memory Seats like I do on my F-150. I have a 400A with Nav, primier trim, PP, rear parking sensors on the Mustang. I see that everybody says they don't need it but it is very useful/helpful. At 5'8" and having my gangster leaning days behind me, I like to sit more upright and closer to the steering wheel than I used to. When the chair scoots back and forth to let you in and out of the car it makes world of the difference. It's the little things.

I guess I'm afraid of relying on technology to help me drive. I feel like I would be less attentive and just get lazy over time.

Truthfully, owning a base Mustang for a year and a half, the only thing I wish I had was more performance and sound, the center screen and more bass (not trunk rattling).

Then save your money on the 401a and put it towards a performance package or aftermarket stuff.

I had planned to buy a local GT Premium with 401a, but the deal fell through so the dealer found me another car, in another state, that had the same features, but with the adaptive cruise control (it also had a $1,000 Blue Tag rebate on this one so I only paid like an additional $195 for the adaptive cruise control). I'm so happy I have it now, the collision detection is awesome even if I never use the cruise control. I believe the rain sensing wipers are also included with this package, but I never really use them. I have heard the GT350's heads up shift display is the same as the heads up display we have in the adaptive cruise control cars, with some tweaks. I have been trying to figure out if it can be modified to act as a shift light.
Only thing I don't like about the ACC is the lower grille. I want to have a matching MMD lower grille. I'll have to look into using the collision alert as a shift light. How hard can it be?

That lower grille also comes on cars that are destined for states which make standard a block heater, which is noted in the order guide.

My 400A and many others have that lower grille.....

Memory feature is tied to all your unique features. So I like my seat low and back, mirrors out more and blue ambient lighting and my wife likes the seat farther ahead, up more, mirrors in and red ambient lighting. When each memory is set, all these features for you are set. Add easy entry/exit to that and I think its wonderful. I will never do without it again....
I also program the third memory seat option to be completely forward, allowing my little ones to more easily enter the back seating area. This means I don't have to bend over and hold the power seat button. Once they are in, I press the memory 1 button to put the seat back into drivers position.

I will also say, the easy entry/exit on a daily driving basis is fantastic. It allows you to easily clear the side bolsters and should significantly save on leather wear and tear.

That's actually a neat idea to use memory 3 to move the seat forward.

What is the easy entry/exit that everyone keeps mentioning?

When you shut the car off, the seat fully retracts all the way back, giving you more room to exit and clear the side bolsters. When you get in, the seat will fully retract (if it hasn't been already) allowing easy entry. When you start the car, the seats automatically adjust to settings in the key fob, putting you in your saved driving position.

I don't like it on my manual, so I turned it off. Can't press the clutch far enough to start it when the seat is all the way back. So I would have to press the button to turn the car on. Then wait to be moved up so I can start it. I guess I'm a little impatient.

LOL, yeah...it was a bit of a stretch for me at first (I'm 6'2"), but I don't notice the extra reach anymore. I personally like to sit fairly close to the wheel for my size, so not having the easy entry/exit enabled is not an option....as getting in and out is a PITA.
