Looks good man! I sure hope so on the hood lift thing. Mine is terrible...
It was bad for me as well but the Roush vent mod helped a lot. I just know more wanted out based on my story. This will take care of all of it.

Nice work! Thats a bold move cutting the hood like that! Turned out awesome. Is your car a track and fair weather only car? I was just thinking about rain water coming in the vents now.
It was bold and not for the timid. It does as much track as I can do and I live in CA so it’s pretty fair weather here a lot. I will drive in the rain. It’s a non issue as the drivers side is above my covered air filter and the passenger side never gave me a problem with the gutted Roush ones. This will of course allow much more water in but not while moving. I would have no issue driving this anytime of the year and the vents won’t stop me. The idea of cleaning it after a rainy day stops me more.

I like these better as it removes the oem recessed area and are larger.

I'd love the ones above with a nice larger center one. Would greatly help with heat dissipation.
It actually sits in the recessed area of the hood. Nothing is changed on top. I’m curious on the center one also.

Just got s set of of these from tracktech thanks to Dave for getting me off the coach so to speak. I did Dave's last hood mod with the Roush vents and this one seems like a win win again. Until the end of the month there is a 20% discount on all there products.
Shawn is smart and called for a discount. I payed full price just ordering but I’m good with that.

What did you use to cut the hood?
Here is a picture of the stuff I used and the trim. There is a variety of ways to cut but again, this is what I used. A Dremel with a high speed cutter that made the initial groove/channel and then the metal discs to finish the cutting. What isn’t pictured is the Dremel sanding drums I used to smooth the edges.

I used a center punch and the 7/64” drill bit for drilling the holes at the corners on top. Their instructions have you just grind the area away which is fine also. The drill bit I used was the perfect size to actually thread the bolt through but you could easily use a large drill bit as the bottom bracket ultimately secures it.

Don’t have any pictures of the cutting because my hands were very busy. Again, there is a variety of ways to cut. Extra tips: I didn’t but taking the hood off would make this much easier as you don’t have to contort your body. Cover the entire engine compartment if you leave the hood on because you will make an aluminum mess. Don’t rush.

I'm torn between these and the Verus Engineering ones.

I think I replied to the wrong post with that comment. I was talking about the verus engineering ones. They seem larger.

Both seem like good designs, these seem somewhat reversible to stock while the verus don't.

No worries Shawn. Looking forward to your results and I know it will look great.

That’s what is great about having options. The Verus ones show them being installed on a hood without vents and I think think it’s a good option. I love the TrackSpec ones for their lines following those of us with the stock hood vent recessed area. I liked very much not having to cut the top of the hood and they look like they were always made to be there. Doesn’t matter what you go with as long as you like it.

Gotcha. They are a different shape. I prefer the vent perimeter laying down in the recessed area.

I don't think so. It looks like everything that the stock vents attach to is cut out.
Correct on being NON-REVERSIBLE. The mounting supports are cut away. I suppose you could tack weld in some more aluminum and make new attachment points but for the most part this is a committed decision.

Really have to thank you for this (and the HPDE section) post about these vents. Absolutely what I need on the race car, and I lucked up that the discount code is still good on 1/1/18!!!! Now I'm on the hunt also for a center section vent...may get the Verus ones and put them side by side in the middle ....

My pleasure and thanks for the words. You’ll be impressed more I believe when you see them in person. You might want to wait till they come out with their center vent as it will match in quality and production wise. They said they are making it like the center vent on the GT4 Mustang but are finalizing the design. Glad the discount code was still working.

Received mine yesterday, made much better than I expected!

Has anyone used these on an aftermarket hood yet? While waiting on these to arrive, I ended up working a deal and buying a 3" Trufiber cowl hood locally. It has hood like our OEM hood, and I've been told my stock vents work with this hood. Just wondering if these WILL work, and how they would look with the cowl hood..
