Hey,
I'm wondering what rim/tire people are using on the track. I'm looking to run a 18x10 with Hoosier r7 tires but I'm having tomroblr finding a run that clears the 6 pot PP brakes.

Show me what you got.

I run 18x10 +43 Apex EC-7 with 295/40/18 Hoosier R7's on track and 275/35/18 Bridgestone RE71R's at the AutoX. I run a cortex 1/2 in. spacer to clear the strut in the front while the hoosiers are on. No issues clearing the brembos, with or without the spacer.

Apex 18x10 aren't currently available, but we are hoping they are going to release the new wheels they are making in mustang fitment.

A few guys run forgestar wheels on track as well. Some as wide as 11 in. wide with 315 tires.

Nice! Has the car been taken to the track? I'd be a little worried about running a spacer that big.

Thanks!

Out of curiosity, what makes you concerned about a cortex 1/2 in. spacer with extended lugs?

These are the same components that the World Challenge mustangs run.

They've been installed on my car since Feb. I've done a few days at RPM, a few days at COTA, and a few days at Road Atlanta.

It looks good. I guess there's nothing to worry about I just thought the extra load could be bad.

Out of curiosity do you know what forgestars people run? I don't think I'd want to go wider than 10" because the cost of the tire goes up so much.

You don't actually have to up-size the tires just because you chose a wider wheel. F'r'instance, 285/35's are an acceptable size for 11" wide wheels (and the only opinions on the resulting appearance that matter will be from those who understand what you're up to).

FWIW, I'm not in favor of using any more than a thin spacer to eliminate a light strut-side rub. Lug nuts tend to loosen slightly, which could in some situations put the lugs in bending.

I've used Forgestars F14s on my s197 for 4 yrs on the track. Bent wheel twice, just got them refinished. The bent wheels were my fault. I have been very happy with the wheels. CF5's will fit 6-pot but not F14s, I think.

APEX is well known with BMW track crowd in CA. Also a very good balance between weight, strength and price. Cant comment whether they'd fit 6-pot.

I have a set of Forgestar CF5 18x11's with 315/30/18 Hoosier R7's. Only have to run a spacer up front to clear the struts. (I'm running 3" studs) I am looking to sell them if anyone is interested.

Haven't hit the track but I have 18x9 APEX EC7s with 265/45R18 RE-71Rs. The wheels were relatively cheap way to see if I like the car on the track. No special fitment considerations.
