About a couple of months ago i noticed my front axle nut had come loose and it had started to cause some issues while braking. Luckily, I presuaded my local Ford dealer to warranty the work which involved a new wheel bearing and nut.
Fast forward to today, my friend has the same problem on...
Just wanted to throw this out there that I've had my front axle nut come lose. I noticed it because my brake pedal would be soft after turning. Turns out the rotor was wobbling and pushing the brake pistons back in.
Ford dealer gave me a hard time but ended up warrantying it.
Dealer found the axle spindle nut loose. They tried to say it wasn't under warranty because I took it off when putting aftermarket lowering springs. Only problem with that is you'd never touch that nut when putting springs on. I showed them the install instructions and they agreed to warranty...
I bled it with 15psi like the instructions say. I did bleed both spots on each front caliper.
However, i have an update. I found out the front drivers side wheel bearing is rocking bad. I think this is tied to my brake issue because when the wheel rocks it push the rotor against the brake...
Update on my progress.
I got a scan tool to run the ABS motor which seemed to make the pedal feel worse.
I'm hoping that by running the ABS module it freed up some air bubbles. I'm waiting for some more fluid to come in so that i can try pressure bleeding the system one more time.
I'm not...
The pads look pretty healthy. id say 60-70% thickness left.
I did the two person method. One person pumps the brakes while the other open/closes the bleeder.
Just to double check. There is no special procedure for bleeding the brakes on these cars other than the two bleeders on each front...
Hi Guys,
Last summer i noticed my PP brakes had started to get a little inconsistent. Basically, when i pressed the brake pedal after not pressing it for some time it would feel mushy and not grab as high up as i remember. However, if they were pressed recently they feel solid and grab early...
It looks good. I guess there's nothing to worry about I just thought the extra load could be bad.
Out of curiosity do you know what forgestars people run? I don't think I'd want to go wider than 10" because the cost of the tire goes up so much.
