I also believe LONG term a track pack will resale quicker than a tech.
If you were looking for a classic 350 today would you give a crap what type of stereo was included? I probably would have even ordered a base car before a tech car. Just my .02
First of all, I used to own (bought new) a "classic" 66 350 and stereo wasn't even an option and even had a radio delete.

It seems that those who purchased a "track" model and always trying to justify their purchase by putting down the cars with the "tech" package. With the exception of the coolers, a track car has no performance advantage over a tech, since both are equipped with the same suspension.

Everyone buys a car for their own purpose. Track packaged 350s are built for a single purpose - racing the car for extended periods. Tech cars are more "refined" for street driving. The Nav and electronics, including power seats (track has manual) is in demand. There have been plenty of posts here that track owners wished they offered the "electronics" package (like the "R" model) for their car. So if you don't need NAV or like the stereo system, that is your choice. Ford made a great car that can power around a race track as well as cruise down a highway; a dual purpose car. Just be happy that you have had an opportunity to own this fantastic car in a configuration you like and let others enjoy the car in the way they set it up.

Not putting down tech buyers. But you do make it sound like a track car is of little use on the public roads. This is a great car but I think we can all agree that ford could've packaged the options better. The track guys will always say the electronics are not worth the 7500 while the tech guys will always say the coolers, seats and spoiler are not worth 6500.

I'll put this up again:

If your racing is defined by a session, Tech Pack. If your racing is defined by a season, Track Pack.
Denno about that. Two different folks have experienced power reduction due to tranny temps after ~15 minutes. I'd be pretty pissed if I couldn't complete a 20min hpde sessio

Both are silly if they say that since the biggest hitter is the magenride :)

There's some truth that people will always champion what they have, and put down what they don't. Human nature . . .

Frankly, I would have preferred if Ford spec'd the packages a bit differently, or at least allowed for more flexibility with specific components. As has been said, there's not enough difference between Tech and Track from an overall performance standpoint. But, what's the point of putting a Tech spec'd car into a place where you maybe can't add OE tranny and diff coolers, both of which have been "recommended" by Ford when putting the car on track (Shelby supplement)? That seems rather shortsighted.

If I could have added factory coolers to the Tech spec, I would've done it in a heartbeat. While I think coolers are not a legitimate need for those who are not / will not be serious track drivers, or even for the lighter side of lapping days, there are plenty of us who do enjoy intense track driving, and coolers are always a good thing in that respect. And I would also have to agree that factory coolers could be an attractive feature for any future sale of the car.

So, here's hoping that Ford does make some option available, though at some point a good aftermarket setup will likely be developed.

Poor fluid choice from the factory perhaps? 15 minutes is not very long.

I feel like if the manual says to add coolers to the tech pack, then they shouldn't be that hard to add. Am I mistaken?

As for the price, you have to look at the magneride and springs as the main cost. It's basically you get the coolers, or pay $1000 to lose the coolers and gain the radio system and heated power leather seats.

Makes you wonder if they will add the coolers as a stand alone option in 2017.

At the moment, there is no suggested or confirmed OE solution for transmission or differential coolers. The Track pack and R transmission cooler setup cannot be used in any case because it is based off an internal pump in the transmission which is reported not to have been included in the base or Tech pack cars. Whether that was an aggressive penny-pinching move or an engineering issue that was too expensive to solve is an open question.

I was all in for the Tech pack, but after hearing about two different Tech pack cars not being able to complete a full 20 minute HPDE session without pulling power I'm thinking about switching my order to Track. According to the owners it seems like the trans gets too hot on what sound like normal days weather wise. Nothing extreme about temps in the 60's and 80's for each owners track time.

I would definitely switch. I personally don't see any reason to order a Tech pack car. That's just my opinion though.

I'd rather have all the coolers from the factory then having to worry about retrofitting.

My only concern is that it will be a daily driver for me and the Recaros are snug on my hips. I hope they'll break in a bit.

This is why it would have been best to allow buyers to mix and match options to dial in precisely what they want: seats they're happy with AND full track capability.

Not sure if it's been stated before, but I was just looking online on Ford.com and they post the weight differences between all models. The weight difference between the Tech and Track pack, the tech pack is 8 lbs heavier.
