It's not that the PP doesn't include enough, it just makes more sense to me that the ability to put it in "track mode" isn't tied into the package.

seems odd you can have an optioned up premium with all the extra weight and put it in track mode, but if you have a lighter base model with the performance package, then you have to muck with different setttings in the cluster and still not get the full effect from what I've read..

The owners manual does not answer this question. Why have a track package and no track mode? Or, is sport mode on the PP truly track mode? I realize you can't change the steering feel on non-premium models, but when you have a base GT with PP, is it really in track mode when you have it set to sport?
I will have to look it up.... when I have a supportive answer I will get back

- From AutoWeek review: "The Performance Pack gets a bunch of bolt-on structure pieces to stiffen the chassis further: stiffer front strut mounts, and the front lateral link instead of a bushing gets a cross axis joint to stiffen up front lateral link significantly."
Yea I know there's more to it. I was just being ridiculous. It's still pretty retarded that you do not have an official "track mode" on the so-called performance package. At least, we can't confirm at this point anyway?

Selectable drive modes consists of the
following systems:

•
Electronically power-assisted steering

adjusts steering effort and feel based
on your selected mode. See

Steering

(page 163).
•

Electronic stability control and traction

control maintain your vehicle control
in adverse conditions or high
performance driving. See

Stability

Control

(page 143).

•

Electronic throttle control enhances

the powertrain response to your inputs.
Using Selectable Drive Modes
Selectable drive modes automatically
tailors your vehicle configuration for each
mode selected.
E174706
To change the drive mode
setting, toggle the mode
button/switch on the instrument
panel under the display. The first press of
the mode button/switch illuminates the
selected mode, subsequent presses will
change the selected mode.
Note:

Mode changes are not available when

the vehicle ignition is off or reverse (R) gear
is selected. In gear position drive (D), the
available modes are Normal, Sport+, Track
and Snow/Wet. In gear position sport (S)
Snow/Wet and Normal mode are
unavailable.
Modes:
•

Normal – Delivers a balanced

combination of comfort and handling.
This mode provides an engaging drive
experience and a direct connection to
the road without sacrificing any of the
composure demanded from your
vehicle.
•

Sport+ – Provides a sportier steering

feel and throttle response. Sport+
mode is ideal for use during more

spirited driving.

Modes:
•
Normal - Default factory setting.

•
Sport - Slightly higher effort required
for steering with more road force felt
through the steering wheel.

•
Comfort - Slightly less effort required
for steering with less road force felt
through the steering wheel.
After selecting the desired setting, you may
feel a soft feedback bump in the steering
wheel when the changeover occurs.

Note:
If your vehicle is equipped with the
selectable drive modes feature, the steering
feel will change when you select a new drive
mode. You can override this automatic
selection by pressing the steering

button/switch.
Just follow those pages in the owners manual

It looks to me that the selectable drive modes are in the premium package with the toggle switches It does not appear that it is included in the base package other than the performance package includes the unique "tuning" I am uncertain about the throttle response but as far as what I have read...It is in the premium model... basically... You get the steering modes and the traction control/advance trac modes for stabilty but nothing that includes the throttle response with sport+, normal, snow/wet and Track

Soo, does that mean the base model with PP will be more restricted or no? If someone with said setup could chime on to confirm, that'd be great. I don't want to order the wrong trim.

Maybe I'm missing it?

Can Rachel answer this question from Fordservice???
Let me give it a shot, r-model. ;)

The following Selectable Steering settings are standard on every 2015 Mustang: Comfort, Normal, and Sport. You can switch these by the buttons located in the center stack.

Here's a bit more about the Selectable Steering settings that you can find on page 167 of your Owner Manual:

Modes:
• Normal - Default factory setting.
• Sport - Slightly higher effort required for steering with more road force felt through the steering wheel.
• Comfort - Slightly less effort required for steering with less road force felt
through the steering wheel.

The following Selectable Drive Modes are standard on Premium models and are not offered in any package: Normal, Snow/Wet, Sport+, and Track. You can select this by using the toggles in the center stack. The toggles allow drivers to adjust steering effort, throttle response, shift control, and stability control settings. Check here for a bit more info about this.

Here's a bit more about each Drive Mode that you can find on pages 167-167 of your Owner Manual:

Modes:
• Normal – Delivers a balanced combination of comfort and handling. This mode provides an engaging drive experience and a direct connection to
the road without sacrificing any of the composure demanded from your
vehicle.
• Sport+ – Provides a sportier steering feel and throttle response. Sport+
mode is ideal for use during more spirited driving.
• Track – Provides a performance driving experience. The engine responds
directly to your inputs and takes on a more powerful tone. Track mode is for
use when pure performance is desired. A performance oriented AdvanceTrac
mode is automatically utilized when Track drive mode is selected. In this
mode, AdvanceTrac intervention is reduced and tuned specifically for track
usage only and is not intended for public roads. See Using Stability Control (page 144).
• Snow/Wet - Provides a confident handling driving experience during poor
weather. This mode provides an confident drive experience and a direct
connection to the road without sacrificing any of the composure demanded from your vehicle.

So, the only way to get for example, the track mode, is to get the Premium model. Shouldn't these drive modes be an integral part of the Performance Package??????

From my short test drive of a GT Premium, I toggled through the modes and came to the conclusion I could mimic the Sport+ throttle "settings" by just using the SelectShift & paddles and gear down to keep the revs higher. I'll still have the steering adjustments and traction control on my base GT so I'm fine with that. Track mode just seemed to have even more aggressive shift points which can be achieved with the gas pedal position. My point is they seem to be more of a gimmick to create an artificial driving style which I would rather create myself.

When I drove in Sport+ mode, I noticed a significant and from my point of view, just right change in throttle response (was an M/T car). Anything more aggressive would feel artificially exponential. Normal feels sub-linear, Sport+ feels linear. You can get to Sport+ in a base GT, so I'm happy.

I completely agree...and we still do not have a clear answer if the base GT with PP sport mode is equal to the track mode of the premium model.

Hi BmacMI,
I'm glad you chimed in. I have been wondering this since I placed my order over a month ago for my Base GT with PP. You are the second or third person to indicate Sport+ is available on the Base GT model.

So it's legit, pressing the traction control button "quickly" 2 times turns on the Sport+ mode, offering all the throttle response one would get from the GT Premium Sport+ mode. I think that is fantastic!

Maybe you can post a pic of your dashboard with the Sport+ icon illuminated? That could put an end to the mystery and doubt surround this matter.
Thanks!

On the base models... What you are getting is just the stability control, advance trak and steering modes. with the premium, in addition to all the handling driver aids it includes the advance engine tuning and throttle response with all the respective driver modes and track mode which provides the best performance and throttle response...like advance timing.... So...Given what Ford service has already answered...it is also printed in the owners manual around pages 167...follow the other pages listed in there and also check out the hyperlink that they provided about driving modes which is ONLY on the GT Premium package regardless of performance package or not

Why would you put track mode in the premium? That's just stupid. Another negative added to the column Ford
