Why would you put track mode in the premium? That's just stupid. Another negative added to the column Ford
I guess the same thing as why would they put track and driving modes in a base

No, everyone would like to be able to order all options they want and not be lumped into a $4000+ "Package" of things they don't want without a ridiculous up-charge for the individual "features". Offer a package discount but still leave it to the customer to decide what they can get. It might take longer to build but shouldn't be more expensive.

Ala carte ordering Would increase the price in general for the vehicle and those separate choices. Though by going to an ala carte system then everyone will complain because they have to pay $3000 more and the car takes a month longer to build.

Having an individual option... As in a little here and a little there can actually increase cost That individual option can slow down the assembly line versus having a grouped package... Having that, anything in that group gets installed and makes it simplistic versus complicating the build/production process>>> more exotic cars to give you the options you desire...some things are still an optioned group package but there are many individual options like on a Lambo...alot of the cars are hand built and produced in limited numbers and take much longer to build.

It is fair the way it was optioned out. I usually like the premium trims and options available to the trim. I have always optioned out a car or truck that closely suits me. If you think the options are crazy with the Mustang.. it isn't Try building an F-series truck... f150 or 250... there are options out of the ass on those. Much like the platinum grilles on the F150.. I like those along with getting a few options within a Lariat... I hate chrome and faux wood finishes but anyways...The option table on the mustang was reasonable if not rather simplistic

Try using the builder for the 2015 F150 and you will know exactly what I mean

Wait I'm confused. An owner of a base gt says the base has sport+ which affects throttle, but ford service days premium only? Lol

base is lighter
maybe lighter but those who want the premium trims are willing to and able to pay the price for it... Just because you have the base with a performance package...along with whatever options you chose... does not mean that there will be a great difference in weight with a premium... maybe a couple hundred lbs. that is like having a passenger and whatever junk in the trunk you have riding with you in a base trim model.
What ever my body weight say..150 lbs in a Premium GT and lets say a 230 lb guy or girl in the base... the weight advantage of your base has already been compromised... no advantage

I dont even see it as being a weight issue... this is obviously turning into a "I don't have the money for the premium options but I want to complain to have those options as standard on a base..." great, now that jacked up the price your weight and becoming more out of grasp of those with the limited budget.

I can understand streamlining the production process to save time and money, whether it is for the Company or the Customer is debatable, but I'm the one buying the product and it always seems they structure it to push you up into a padded package to get a couple features deliberately instead of giving you more choices. I'm not saying they don't all do it, some just do it better than others and I'm not talking Exotics.

Specifically, I like the Diamond mesh dash on the base I'm getting better than the bright brushed aluminum, as well as the other shiny toggles and big screen. The base just seems a more tasteful mix of black and chrome, but I would like the option of the Shaker Pro Audio so I wouldn't have to go aftermarket, but that requires the Premium plus another package to get everything.

I can understand that...Its just that the premium has exactly the options i wanted along with the radio...toggles leather among other things...I always opt for the best audio systems factory. It was a very easy selection. no need for reverse sensing, Nav, adaptive cruise control or rain sensing wipers, 50th appearance or even the premium trim. I like functional practicality along with luxury & handling suited for an Audi sport coupe

I tried optioning out a 2015 F150 with the options that I preferred but with some trims snd my own taste of finishes just did not match at all! My head is still spinning from the options packages

It was 1000x harder to pick the trim line as it was to just select the FX4 model as when I ordered it even with base options similar to my truck... the cost was still way over 13g when my truck had an msrp of 39k...

I'm guessing you don't have a firm grasp on your surroundings. Life is about up selling you to another product.

At a movie theater take popcorn for example.

Small-3.95
Medium- 5.95
Large- 6.50

They understand that every consumer wants more so only a small percentage will buy a small but most will view the small as not enough and expensive at 3.95. The consumer then looks and notices they can get a medium for less then two smalls so your brain is telling you that you are getting a better deal but what is this next to the medium..for .55 more cents I can Double the product I'm receiving by ordering a large so you buy the large knowing you got a deal.

In reality they purposely make the medium a bad deal so they can up sell you on a large. 99% of people do this day to day without noticing it.

Look at your internet/TV.

$84.99/ 200 channels 2 MB internet
$99.99/ 235 channels 3 MB internet
$109.99/ 300 channels 10 MB internet

They want you to buy that premium package.

When you sit down and look at it Everything tries to up sell you....

You are making my point, it is more about maximizing the profit margin than focusing on the customer that is providing said profit. A good healthy debate was not my intention, so I will get off my soapbox and go back to anticipating my Ingot Silver Mustang GT base that should be delivered in a few weeks and I'll be happy with the compromises I had to make based on the choices I was given.
