TPMS Sensors

I have a question regarding the OEM TPMS sensors. I am going to be replacing my OEM tires to the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S's on my 20 R. Am I supposed to change out the TPMS sensors with every new set of tires? Or can I keep using these as long as they're still functioning properly? For additional info, I still am using my OEM CF wheels. TIA!!

I believe you keep them. I’m not certain which type are on our cars. Some are a part of the valve stem and will eventually need replacing due to worn out seals. Some screw into the valve stem and that valve stem is replaced upon tire change just like any other.

You keep them; some shops such as Discount Tire offer to rebuild them if needed.

It's not necessary to change them with every new set. My local tire guy bases his decision for replacement on age. Something to do with how long the batteries tend to last in them.

Mom's minivan who comes in for tires about every 4-5yrs? It gets new ones every time.

My car that comes in a least once a year for new rubber? Unless they accidentally get damaged from mount/dismount, he says keep them 2-3yr.

No need to swap them out unless you have a problem. I have 2 sets of CF wheels and have changed tires on both sets 2 times without any issues.

Thank you all for your responses. That was the answer I was hoping for, not having to change them out and especially with the car only having 2,500 miles.

The last time I had TPMS battery issues I was told they last 8 years.

I change my tires from Cup2s to PSS. I didn't change TPMS and my mechanic didn't suggest to change them either. I'm on PSS now for 4K miles and don't have any issues.

Just another data point - I've gone through A LOT of tires (many that only last 1-2 days because they're take-off slicks) and I've never had a TPMS issue.
