I've found that modding a car quickly can also make you grow bored of it quickly. I am trying to pace myself this time.
Totally agree and im in the same boat. Got this beaut yesterday though.

I had my exhaust put on at the dealership before I even picked it up. Within a week a had the CAI, tinted windows and a tune done. Then it was probably one or two things a month after that. There's not too much I still want to do. At least that's what I keep[ trying to convince myself.

At three weeks and 800 miles I installed the exhaust and had the windows tinted. 3200 I lowered it with steeda parts. 3100 I installed a bunch of minor bolt on engine parts.

It's never too soon

I've modified every car I've owned since the late 1960's, some only mildly, others extensively.

But I've never been in a hurry to get the mods done - I want the mods to be right for me for what I want them to do, not to simply fall in line with community popularity or as a victim to sales push (perhaps best illustrated by AM's "you know you need this mod" emails). The FRPP cold air & tune on my '08 GT was a borderline exception, where early installation by the dealer at least maintained the separate warranty on it.

I waited over a year to start digging into the '08's suspension, and a year past that for the first set of wider wheels and better tires. The first exhaust mod plus several brake and suspension replacements/upgrades - all of which I have in hand - may get installed before the car turns 9, or maybe they won't.

Aside from a time or two where I was convinced against my own judgment to buy a more readily available component, I don't think I've ever had "buyer's remorse".

I usually like to wait at least 10-15k before bolting on anything. It gives you time to truly break in and test the engine. If you had manufacturing issues, hopefully they would have surfaced by that time. I just hit 10k this weekend. I just ordered a FF tune for it last week. I don't plan on doing any bolt ons until I go full out.
I agree with this logic.

I didn't follow this logic as I had a full exhaust on at about 250 miles on the clock.

I did follow this logic on my 5.0 truck though. I waiting until 5k to make sure the oil didn't magically disappear, warranty, issues, etc.

Within 20 minutes of having it home. Voided the entire warranty within 2 weeks.

Look at build thread.

I don't plan to mod it much due to warranty concerns but the exhaust from the factory is terrible. A week after I bought the car I put a Roush axle-back on, then a week after that I installed a J&M X-pipe. Now 3 months later (today) I installed a Steeda no-tune CAI, and I have new shocks, springs, and a cradle lockout kit coming next week. Next I plan to add sway bars, get new tires and wheels, and possibly upgrade to Brembo front brakes.
