Thrust Washer, needed or not?

I used them and now I have problems again. This time they will be left out. As far as the nuts, my dealer sells them for 2 bucks so not worth the time to clean the old ones.

I marked the nuts last time and the nuts have not moved but the hub is clicking.

IF the washer broke, it took out the hub. Not bad for a 20 dollar part eh ?
