Dave: Just some notes on the most recent install...first of all, the kit was complete in every detail...excellent quality and excellent craftsmanship all around. I installed the restrictor as per your notes as I will not be adding a tune for the foreseeable future (was good to receive that information beforehand from your representatives on line BTW). First, as you can see, the installation went quite well and removing the resonator and plugging the hole with the supplied plug was a breeze. However, like some folks mentioned here, I too had a fitment issue with adapting the Ford OEM Grille Inlet unit to the Steeda Air Box. Apparently, the OEM unit uses a series of rectangular protruded tabs to fit into their rectangular concave better half so to speak. Unfortunately, the Steeda unit uses Round "Push Pin" type hardware on its kit hence one ends up literally trying to mate and fit a "Round Peg into a "Square Hole" (rectangular hole as it is). So, after two attempts trying to install then unit and having the grille inlet piece fall off, I removed the unit, refit the two halves, drilled out four strategically placed 9/32 holes, and inserted four 9/32 Aluminum Pop Rivets to secure the pieces together...worked like a charm! No more fitment issues and problem solved! As you can see, the installation was completed in short order. I am very satisfied with the kit and installation but I would be remiss if I didn't give you some feedback for your QC department. 1) Packing materials - add some additional packing to the shipment, mine was poorly packed with a minimal amount of Brown shipping paper that did nothing to cushion the components (they were loosely strung out in the box) 2) Add a tube of Loctite to your kits so we can apply some to the two Air sensor screws as well as the four screws that secure the Aluminum Plenum chamber 3) Add a small vial of Pureline to lubricate the rubber grommets (although hand soap works well as does electrical insulating grease) 4) Add a detailed parts inventory list to the instructions page (so the customer knows what he/she should expect beforehand...not good to start assembly without knowing if you have everything) 5) Improve the instructions a bit or add a video that one can download prior to the installation (I found doing a "dry Run" rehearsal prior to the start of actual disassembly/assembly worked well for me).
This is good info, Marc. Thanks for posting it. Perhaps by the time I order my CAI, Steeda will have corrected the minor shortcomings that you point out.

How does the unit sound? I'm assuming it makes the induction sound a little more aggressive.

Thanks.

I installed with restrictor, I'm still waiting on my tune via email. The power gains are surprising for just a CAI more power and torque and the car just seems louder. I can wait to see how she responds with the tune it going to be nuts! Install wasn't too bad and it looks great under the hood especially with the stickers

Hi Ralph,

If Bama has a tune for the restrictorless intake then you would be fine. Alternatively what you can do is simply run the CAI with the restrictor installed and leave your tune as-is!

Thanks,
David
Thanks, David. I'm going to check with Bama. My understanding is that my current tune only accounts for the cat backs, and that if I add a CAI, I can let them know and they'll send me an updated tune. Free tunes for life I believe.

I'm assuming running your CAI w/out the restrictor, and with a proper tune, provides more bang than running your CAI with the resrtictor.

Thanks again.

Sounds good, Gzstang.

I think I'm gonna have to pull the trigger on the Steeda CAI and get my Bama tune updated. I'm waiting to here back from Bama, but I can't imagine that Bama hasn't already tinkered with their tunes to make them compatible with Steeda's CAI since it's such a popular CAI.

Yes...induction sounds more "responsive" and more aggressive but not overly bothersome. With the addition of my Magna Flow Street series cat backs, the sound is quite appealing. In all honesty, throttle response seems to have gotten better as well (kind of like putting a set of "Breathe Rite" strips across the bridge of your nose):clap2:

Hi and thanks for your feedback! I have relayed the additional packaging request to manufacturing.

Regarding the use of Loctite, we actually do not recommend using Loctite at all on these bolts - it will prevent the CAI from coming loose in the event you are looking to put the stock air box back on.

We do not recommend lubricating the rubber grommets - Steeda actually pre-installs these grommets.

We're currently working on the install video! :)

Yep...drilled a 9/32 hole in the bottom of the air box at the same time I drilled and pop riveted the OEM grill inlet tube to the Steeda Airbox...no problems with water draining now!

Installed my intake (with restrictor) this afternoon. It was not difficult at all. I also bought the SCT-x4 and loaded the tune from SCT. I loaded the stock configuration as I had not installed the intake yet. Steeda says it will take a week or two to get their tune emailed to me.

I had an x-pipe and magnaflows installed previously. I left the sound tube for the moment.

I am very impressed with the intake and the SCT tune. My car sounds great and pulls much harder. The middle to the top of the rev range most notably. I only did a couple of short rides but am very pleased. I will put it through its paces in the morning on my 55 mile commute. I will also change the tune to the CAI config. and see if that makes any noticeable change.:headbang:

I know the hood seal is crimped. I forgot to put it on until the rest was done. I will redo it when I get my Steeda tune and take the restricor out.
