Mine is a 3.0 with the two provisions on the passenger side. No one in this thread has the mack daddy 3.8 that I'm aware of.

I'm not buying that one bit. I think they are trying to catch-up by using the old and new molds. Maybe different suppliers are doing the molds? No idea on the performance difference, but why would they change from the single to the double on the passenger side if there is no reason behind it? Smells fishy to me.

My buddy is installing one right now

After comparing the lids for the 3.8L and the 3L I'm convinced that the one with the 2 ports is the 3.8L lid. Wipple may be standardizing on one design for manufacturing reasons.

As far as performance differences here's my speculation. I think the 3L lid feeds the 2 outer radiators with separate feeds. The inter radiator is connected to the outputs of the outer radiators and used to feed the inter one with the output of the inter one connected to the output from the lid.

The 3.8L lid now has three inputs which I surmise now feeds each radiator separately with the same return method from the center radiator. The center radiator would be a dual pass type.

This is pure speculation on my part since I don't have access to the lids but the 3.8L certainly requires more cooling and this would be a way of getting it without a major design change. Wipple wouldn't put 2 feed ports(actually 3) on it for no reason.

Bottom line. The 2 port version is probably more efficient. Will it make any difference for the 3L version probably not. The single port version probably provides adequate cooling since it produces less heat to start with.

I do have one question to the people with the 2 port version. How do they handle the extra port. Does the hose now come with an additional Y to connect the 2 ports?

Oh. So my speculation was wrong. They added an additional return, interesting.

Heres the one I got

I wonder if there is actually no difference in performance, doesnt make sense to have 2 types though.

Is it just an excess port that gets fed back into the supply line? It's whatever red line comes out and goes to a t-connect on the supply line just before the fill reservoir. I'm not mechanically knowledgeable of any of this.

I was told they have units built and ready just waiting on the lids to arrive. Apparently the supplier is behind. They should be receiving them early next week.
