I read somewhere that the 2 gauges are actually 2 unit in the back so I think swapping out just 1 will be impossible unfortunately.

They are mechanical (you can see the needles physically), with an electronic input signal.
They are electrical. There is no oil tubing ran into the passenger compartment and the vacuum signal is off a map sensor. No vacuum line ran to gauge.

Mechanical gauge is a gauge that has what's it's reading mechanically connected to that source.

Electrical gauges use remote mounted electrical sensors to electrically send a signal to the gauge.

All electrical guages used to be 1/4 sweep but with stepper motors they can now also be full sweep.

I agree, I think it's pretty pointless. Only people it impresses is people that don't know much about cars, lol. I think a clock, digital or analog, hell even an aviation style compass would look cool, lol.
Put a black sticker over it if it's ruining your day, week or life that bad

Impossible to some. A challenge to others.

It got put together, it can be taken apart, modified and put back together. It's the "car guy" "hot rodder" way.

Bolt ons are sometimes just for lazy people or those with little ambition

I have the ecoboost map sensor already. As soon as I can get my hands on the gauge pack, I WILL make it work.

Re-read what I said. I said the gauges themselves have a real needle (you can see them physically) ... they are not "virtual analog gauges" on an LCD screen like the ones in the Information Display. I mentioned they have electrical input signals, which means there is no physical oil line or vacuum lines on the gauges.

I think the guy who originally asked the question was wondering if they were virtual gauges in stead of real gauges with real needles. I can see the confusion factor, but it should be clear now.

They still wouldn't be considered mechanical whatsoever.

There's mechanical, electrical, and digital...

How I described it makes it pretty clear what they are ... regardless of terminology. :D

No I was just generalizing about whether or not there would be anything aftermarket released that would go in its place. If the "gauge pack" could have been opted out of I would have just to not have to look at a worthless vacuum needle bouncing all over the place.

I have to be honest that one of the things I dislike most about my new Mustang is the stupid Vacuum Gauge in the dash...does anyone make or plan to make something else that can be put in it's place?

I'd even put another clock in the car just to not have to look at it anymore...what a useless feature...

Forget about oil temp its a manual transmission car and does grind in cold weather so a transmisson fluid temp gauge would be the best option! You would know when to start shifting on high rpms after the fluid is warmmed up! My ls3 camaro had one and its pretty useful feature! I can still look from the digital center display but still! Whoever thought about a vacuum gauge thinks we are like little kids who likes to see moving needle with throttle input!

Take a Snapple lid, send it to the newly opened Cuba, and have a running horse hand painted by virgins as it sits gingerly on their plump thighs. Then place it over the gauge. Or you could just put tape over it.

Hahaha good idea. Except for us Canadians Cuba has always been open.
