The problem with paddle extensions....

Just as a warning for anyone thinking of fitting paddle extensions... They block the allen bolts on the steering wheel so it can't be removed! Just discovered this as mine needs the wheel off to check an airbag fault. Off to collect it from the dealer and get a hair-dryer on the paddles to remove the 3m tape (and then a fun day of goo removal ) Dealer won't do it in case they do any damage...

Keep considering these but there does seem to be a few drawbacks.

Still amazes me there are no replacement options out there rather than stick on extensions.

I have them on my 2014 Volvo S60 sedan and had the wheel turned at a 90 degree to the right, jumped out of the car at hospital, summer time with shorts on, and the open end caught the top and RIPPED the whole thing off the wheel. Had to purchase a new paddle etc. WON'T be installing these on my GT any time soon!

Before you take them off (the extensions, not your shorts ... ), can you use them as a sacrificial template for putting holes in your new ones to stop the same problem in future ? (And as a guide for other members ?).

Mine had to have steering wheel replaced and they easily prized off, replaced the tape and refitted no problem
