The main issue with a car forum is very simple...you get a very polarised view. The loudest people are usually the ones with issues, because ultimately that is when you need advice. When your happy as larry your spending more time enjoying the car.

On every car forum i have been on this i has always been the case Focus ST mk2=Weak Cylinders in the 5 pot, Evo= Rust under the bodywork & Lotus=Oil cooler hose popping off(fixed under recall, if you get a letter which i did not and ended up broke down in minus temps waiting 4 hours for the AA). All of those issues happended to a relatively few people but got the most press on the forum.

My point is most people look at the threads where something has gone wrong because naturally you want to see what COULD go wrong. I am guilty of the same thing but every marque has concerning issues. Lambo and Ferrari released cars that caught fire...although that was a handful of cars and not the majority but what do we all remember? The cars that we saw on the news dying in a blaze of glory. Anyway fingers crossed nothing goes wrong with my Mustang...When it gets here<goes off to read the many delivery threads>

I know only too well about this :headbonk:
:( I had 3 Evos, 8,9 & 10 thankfully i never had any issues whatsoever. But i have seen a few and the rust was immense, especially on the 5 and 6. Amazing cars though.:headbang:

I had an 8, it had some rust mostly under the spoiler but it wasn't the reason I sold it. The thing that made me sell was that the AYC pump failed and mitsubishi quoted me ÂŁ2300 to fix it. I ended up selling it for a loss of less than ÂŁ1000.

I worried and fretted about every issue until I got behind the wheel of my GT. All those worries melted away and I don't even care about how much I'm spending on petrol.

I call it an enjoyment tax and it's the only one that feels worth it.

I have never worried.

I have had so many rubbish cars in my life that I just dread breaking down and costing me to repair. Since I have been buying new cars, I just dont have those worries.

I see all the worries about reliability issues on every forum. Strangely, with a fleet of 32 cars and vans that my company run the most impressive vehicle had been a Skoda Octavia!

Nah, all I really worried about was getting the dam thing!

Have i worried about the car? yes.
Is it justified? yes.

But why worry - because i'm dropping 30 odd grand on a car, upping to near 36 barrier after i've done my initial mods and insurance, my previous (current) car isn't anymore than 7k, also 36k is a lot of money for a 21 year old, regardless of how much you earn, it's still a big transaction to put down. Has anyone in my family ever dropped that on a car? No, why? Because they see cars as an A-to-B rather than getting a car they really love, which they could easily do, they'd rather one that serves a practicaility.

Do I care that i'm worrying? No.
Why? Because I know full well any issues will be rectified with the dealer, and that any issue i have with 'buying/spending' said amount of money becomes irrelevant because it's been one of my dreams for years to own a mustang (about 10 years), because I want and love the car, it's been a fascination and obsession for a long time.

Will the car come with issues? Yes probably. They will be minor, every car comes with them. EVERY. CAR. (I challange any of you to find a car that doesn't come with an issue)
Will they be fixed? Yes.

Hope that gives anyone reading this a run through of my mind on it. And at least proves some clarity to everything. No personally I don't care overall, I just want the car.

Ahh, now worrying about spending the money is a different thing.
Anyone that does not wonder if they should spend 36k on something is either, within their comfort zone or silly.

But ANY new car comes with the comfort of warrantee and I would think Ford are as good as many other for sorting things out when they go wrong.

Thats why I DO worry about performance mods

Blow you engine up and end up at the dealer explaining the remap, Sports exhaust, induction kit and everything else really does worry me. A 36K car with a blown V8 and Ford saying sorry mate, no can do is a scary thought.

Okay, slightly of topic I know and may be worthy of a new thread but I will consider performance upgrades very carefully before I do them.

Think it's all justified, we're talking about worries about buying the car down to issues, mods post buying can cause issues with the car, as any mod can do, most professionally done wont effect your car that much.

OP, if you want a Mustang, get it, your worries go when you sit in the car and look over the large bonnet - this is from the guy who's sat in 3, drove 1, and hasn't even got his own yet

Really? that's 2 of us then with paint contamination on the bumper! Check the rest of your car out, i've noticed quite a few fish eyes dotted around after looking really closely.
