I saw the MMR intake at Mustang Alley during the dream cruise. It looked really great in the engine bay, so I asked the owner about it. I was on the fence about which CAI to get, but once he revved it up for me, bam! Instant sale.

So, my MMR Intake just arrived yesterday. Hopefully I can install it tonight.
Any tips from those who have the MMR? Did you remove your front wheel and or move the coolant reservoir to do the install?
Took me 15 minutes, loosen the coolant res to move it out of the way, put filter on tube, snake it into the fenderwell through the engine bay, move the horns out of the way by just pushing them to bend the bracket, attatch to turbo. Its really not bad to install. The noise it makes sounds awesome!

I put a drop in filter in my car... I guess it works great. Honestly, after reading about CAI, I think these companies have great marketing. A Ford engineer claims that it used to be that CAI increased hp... he said nowadays, it is all marketing and their claims are false. Of course he could be saying that since he works at Ford... who would say "we designed these and they work okay. I would always get an after market CAI because they work better over that crappy stock one we put on the car".

Great if someone could take all of them and run 0-60 / 0-100 and see if there is a difference over stock.
There is certainly speculation regarding the benefits of an intake system, this has been the case for years. In short, the ability to make power gains is dependent upon the stock intake as well as the ECU and sensors within the intake tract. We don't make power on every intake we develop. In fact, our recently completed F30 intake system did not make power despite numerous iterations and changes. This is due to parameters within the ECU and the MAP-based fueling calculation. Despite this, we are still offering this intake for its sound and aesthetic benefits while being completely transparent about the lack of gains in terms of power output.

For most vehicles, slight improvements in power output are possible by reducing restrictions present in the factory intake system. We've proven this on numerous projects conducted by our engineering team. For the EBM intake we designed, we were able to extract 8whp and 9 wtq. All data is pulled from an average of 3 consistent runs on each setup (Mishimoto intake and stock intake) to provide an accurate comparison.

To see the full process for testing our intake system, check out the link below.

While these gains are not quite what you will see with a tune, it is certainly a nice easy bolt-on component that improves engine bay aesthetics, engine sound, and manages to tack on some extra power in the process.

Thanks!

You just put the filter on the tube and pushed it down into the well?
You didn't put the filter through the wheel well by turning the wheel and unbuttoning the fasteners?

I imagine getting your hand in there just to move the horns would be easy enough. Was in there before when I did my switchbacks.

Thanks!

Correct, installed filter on pipe, tightened. Then installed the rest of the intake. Yea the horns are easy to move by hand from the top.

Just installed my Full Race intake. Man it sounds good! I'll try to get some clips up this weekend.

I did my MMR install last night.

Geez beasties! It was rough!!!

1) My horn bracket has a hook on top and couldn't be easily turned, so I had to remove the bracket entirely and somehow hold it in place while I put the screw back in. It's not sitting flush, but it is out of the way...

2) Getting the pipe in there was really difficult! Not only could I not do it with the filter attached, I also had to take the reducer off to get just enough space to make it fit. I messed up the powder coat in a few places, but it's well hidden...

Now that it's in there though... It's awesome!

I have a question. I'm using a JLT intake vented to atmosphere. At highway speed my BOV is leaking air enough to hear it. When I burp the throttle it stop for a moment then does it again. Is this normal? Will a different BOV stop this?

This happened to me with the Boomba BOV Adapter.

This is the junky stock BOV venting to air at part throttle... if you change to a Turbosmart or a IC pipe with integrated BOV yes it will stop and perform correctly and mechanically.

Thanks for the info...figured it was a faulty or cheap part. Something that a few Benjamin's can fix....lol

Can you use the turbosmart with the MMR intake as well?
Air suction at highway speed is indeed annoying.

Does not venting to atmosphere solve that Issue? or will I Inevitably have to drop a few for a new BOV?

I was planning on not venting to atmosphere with the new IC when It shows up here tuesday because I don't have a catch can, and I noticed someone was having quite the complications with oil all over their engine. :ninja:

I'm almost sure the stock BOV still reacts the same, weather vented or rerouted. You just can't hear it when rerouted.
Get the catch can....they work.

It will do it whether you're venting to atmosphere or not. It won't be as loud if you're not venting but it will definitely still be noticeable.

Yeah saw a good deal on one so I picked it up, as for the BOV I'll have to plan for that later, just got my MAP CAI in this morning, love the sound and definitely gained back some power but not sure how it'll be for highway driving, the noise that is.
